Everyone is so nice - thank you so much. And nearly everyone has to go through something like this i.e car, house, shed, handbag stolen......and it's not like it ends as soon as the physical damage is repaired, no-one (who commits these 'petty' crimes) gives a toss about how you are affected afterwards i.e Batfink actually coming face to face with her burglar  or Brokenhearted having to clear glass out of her baby seat having nightmares about it.

Financially you are out of pocket the minute they lay a finger/tool/hammer/brick on your house....the excess, the time off work to sort things out, the money you have to spend to make yourself feel safe (i.e. living in a fortress). Gawd knows what the insurance will be this year! My first claim in 8 years though, don't know if that will make any difference.

Sigh. OK onto more things....I guess I should eat something too.

Hope everyone else is having a good day.

Oh lookingahead, that is aweful whats happened. These people want their nasty little hands cutting off.

I wish there was more we could do to help you.

Although I'm sure I've seen on here before a thread about low cost security measures? May have been in the OS board or one of the homes boards but I know I've seen something.

I know you joked about prickly bushes but you can do some stuff like that legally.

Have a scout round and see if you can find the thread.

And :grouphug: from me too. x

I'm so sorry, and I've been there too.
Our house was so thoroughly done over that they emptied my coffee and tea out over the kitchen floor, presumably looking for cash, and then threw all my tablets all over the place (I have arthritis). The police seriously thought they were looking for re-saleable drugs!
The police did help (no, they didn't catch whoever did it) by telling me not to take it personally. They said 'you wake up in the morning and get ready for work, and that's just how your burglars regard it. They weren't out to get you, and they won't be back'.
Apart from the misery of it all, you're then out of pocket on the insurance excess, and our insurers asked us to install an alarm.
It's a horrible business, and I'm thinking of you.
