Noisy Neighbours

I think it's strange what types of noise travel and what don't. The flat next door to mine was empty for two years but my new neighbour has a tendency to let doors slam shut repeatedly (fire doors so heck of a bang), which drives me mad but not enough to complain as she is lovely.
However I can also hear her high heels on the laminate floor and last night we could hear her chopping in the kitchen area! Obviously there is an issue with sound insulation as these aren't 'noisy' noises IYSWIM. They travel dreadfully yet we never hear them speaking or their television and she says she can't hear us at all.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

This is all to do with the frequency of the sound and where the sound source is.
Laminate flooring is the worst for this, the sound of people walking on it is the source of sound which is transmitted directly through the floor and your ceiling.
This is why laminate flooring should only be laid with a decent rubber underlay as this helps prevent the sound travelling, not many people do this as it adds to expense.0
