Tesco Pay as you Go

Sorry if this isn't the right forum to post this, but since I'm on a mission to collect tesco points, I was thinking about the Tesco Pay as you Go Mobile. It says it doubles the amount you place on as PAYG? I'm with a Vodafone PAYG at present so is it worth the swap? And if so, can I keep the number I have now?
Sorry for the dumb questions - I'm a self confessed techno-phobe!!

Well the cost of a call per minute on Tesco is 20P. If you get double the minutes it reduces to 10P. Now how much do you pay per minute on Vodafone? That gives you the answer.
Yes you can port your number over to Tesco.0 -
If you phone customer services they can switch you to the pay as you go lite tariff
8p/min calls, 4p text, you still get clubcard points on top-ups.
They don't advertise it, when I switched they said it was mainly something they offered to customers who leave (ask for MAC code).
It is basically the same price as the ASDA mobile tariff, but you get a top-up card and clubcard points. I guess they set it up to compete. Data is extremely expensive on all tesco PAYG tariffs, so avoid using mobile internet!0 -
You get triple points untill december on tops ups.Been with them over a month now and i'm very happy with the service. You also get discount on new handsets depending how much you top up.I'm on the lite tariff which means 8p min any calls 4p texts.Don't use the net but i know it's expensive.0

Thanks everyone for your help.
Does anyone know if I go for the tariff which triples your credit (OldGreyFox's 2nd link), does the free credit get carried over? I'm not a massive mobile user and I wonder whether I'll get through the free credit in the given time - will it get taken off me at the end of the month?0 -
Hi Brightonfan - thanks for your help. I can't find any info on the triple points top up. Can you tell me more? Thanks!0

Hi Simon,
What's a MAC code?0 -
No, the free credit ends at the end of the 'top-up' monthwelsh.sara wrote: »Thanks everyone for your help.

I top up £20 every month, get the £40 free calls/texts and currently have never used any of my actual credit, so every third month I just don't top up. Internet is horrendous though, they use the O2 network as the provider so coverage is as good if not better than the rest (dependent on where you are)I would like to live in Theory, because everything works there0 -
I think he means a pac code ie,transfering your phone number to another network. Here's the info about triple club card points.
