  • I was 19. Hubby was 25. borrowed 33k mortgage and loaned 5.5k off parents (paid back 6k so they wasn't too out of pocket for lending it to me for about 10 years.
I was earning £85 per week at the time and hubby about £100 and the mortgage was £365 pcm. Its funny how you can remember these facts from so long ago.
Then bought hubby out 10 years ago. Got 6 years left til its paid off. :j

40 (shhh, round here they think I'm 21)

At 30 I was just moving out of my first caravan and into a SO studio (bed on a shelf) on a council road, miiiilllles out of town. Oh - and to show you just how cr4p I am at this, I did that at the peak of the last boom.... and ended up having to buy myself out of negative equity (5% still) 7 years later.

I was an oldie as well - 36. 10K deposit ( half courtesy of my nan) on a 55K house which was all I could afford on my wages which weren't likely to increase any in future. (And I was right, they haven't!)
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • Both 28, and borrowed 90%. On track to be mortgage free by 38.:j
  • I was about 32 and put down a fifth of the price as a deposit, im now 41, I have overpaid for the last couple of years and paid it off completely last week so really pleased with myself.
  • I'm 31 and just bought in London. Took me nearly 10 years to save up half the deposit and the stamp duty! The bank of mum and dad had to help me out with the rest of it - property is so blimmin expensive in this city!
