Only until the acid completely errodes the enamel!
Don't do this.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
I decided to keep a glass of milton in the bathroom for my toothbrush because I read in a magazine that when you flush the loo the germs can be spread about 6 foot in the air and land on surfaces and toothbrushes:eek::eek::eek::eek:
I have to confess it has never occurred to me to clean my toothbrush. I change mine every 3 months, Mar, Jun, Sep and Dec. That way I never forget but between times I just run it under the tap.0 -

I started this thread more from a moneysaving viewpoint really as I can't see why the general advice is to so frequently replace toothbrushes - I just assumed it was a hygiene thing.
Having read the posts about the toilet seat being open when flushing takes place, (I usually close it - OH doesn't) I'm glad I have dishwashed our toothbrushes.
Both of us have had heavy colds recently and his toothbrish is fairly new so dishwashing them must help kill off any bugs.0 -
I replace toothbrushes every 3-6 months. More if we've had coughs and colds as I think this helps it not to linger (but might just be my imagination
).
OH will take all the toothbrushes, put them in a cup and pour boiling water on them. But I think surely this just means any germs not killed off mingle in with everyone's brushesPlus it makes the bristles go softer so they don't last as long  perhaps I should persuade him to switch to dipping in mouthwash?
