in Credit cards
hi, i'm always getting phone calls and e-mails about writing off the balance of my credit cards but although they are a lot to me they aren't a lot to them so they can't take my case on. but they do say i can get the balances written off.
can anyone give me advice on this or point me in the right direction so i can tackle it myself?

Yes, use the search facility or browse the boards, numerous threads already.0

Strangely enough I had thought of that. Unfortunately a million threads come up for anything I search for none of which are of any use.
But thanks.0 -
If none of the threads were any use then dont you think that tells you something?0

To learn all about Unenforceability read this: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1868507
Do not pay a company to do it for you - if it can be done then it can be done for £1 only if the agreements are dated prior to April 2007. If so, send the CCA request to each lender.
There is help out there but remember this is a contentious issue and as such you will get people coming out with smart comments, best to ignore them2010 - year of the troll

er... yeah it tells me that none of the threads are on the right subject and since i didn't know that the right search keyword would be 'unenforcability' i'd be better off asking. little did i know that so many people on this website are determined to be UNhelpful.0 -
i agree, terrible for a saint to be acting in such a way...Debt free!0

Like N-I-D says, this is a contentious issue and not everybody agrees with what you want to do. That is why you have received quite a few unhelpful posts.0 -

I believe sending a cheque for the oustanding balance usually works.
It would only be an outstanding balance if the lender could provide a CCA though, so who is to say that there is anything owed at all?
I know, lets say I suddenly ring you and say - ILW, please send me a cheque for the debt you owe me for £805.97. You'd immediately ask me to prove that you owed me - right?
I rest my case2010 - year of the troll
