If you could go anywhere in the world....

...where would you go?
The reason I ask is that as a present my DH has said I can choose wherever I want to go in the world for three weeks, with a £4k budget as we've paid off a few credit card/loans this year.
So any ideas on where to go/what to do?
Was thinking of Oz, NY etc but is there anywhere that I should consider?

I would go to the Galapagos Islands but I think I would blow your budget.0

I would also go to the Galapagos Islands, or Antarctica. But as Julie says, you would probably need twice your budget for either of those.
We are going to Oz next Wednesday for 3 weeks and it's not costing too much - £550 each for the flights in the Singapore airlines sale and then staying in B&Bs. Although the internal flights stack up, as the place is too big to travel around by buses if you only have 3 weeks.
What about Cambodia/Thailand or India? The cost of living here is super-low so you could afford to travel around a bit.....?The best way to forget all your troubles is to wear tight shoes.0 -
A worldwind round the world trip....or lazing on the beach in the Seychelles or Figi (bliss)
Have a great time...wherever you go. :beer:When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!0 -
Go and get a Kuoni worldwide brochure for inspiration! You'll soon spend your money.0

I'd split it between a fab city break somewhere like New York or Hong Kong followed by a super relaxing two weeks on a beach somewhere like Fiji or Cook Islands.0

At networking events, I often ask people about their dream holidays and get really surprised at the answers. Varies from Iceland to Australia. Various people have said Northern Lights recently (I blame Joanna Lumley!). Also think of something unusual - lots of different things to do in USA for example. What hobbies do you have - do you like music? Go to a music festival somewhere - in style, not under canvas! Do you like cooking? Try a posh cookery course in Tuscany or Spain? Do you want to be pampered - have a look at spas - some fantastic ones worldwide.
You get the idea! :-)I am a Travel Agent My company’s ATOL/ABTA numbers are S0466/3973. MSE doesn't check my status as a Travel Agent, so you need to take my word for it. Depends on you taste etc,
India, Hong Kong or Singapore and Oz maybe, you could stay in India or Oz for the whole time but the three would give you all different view of the world. You could do easily do all three with that budget (Except for Xmas & new year) I should know !!
Failing that have you thought about Swanage0 -
I've been all over, and for me there's been no place quite like DUBAI for me.0

Either:
Ecuador - just been for a month, loads to see and do as the country is so diverse. A Galapagos trip included would blow the budget though
Africa - safari. But I'm biased, I'm in love with Tanzania at the mo for all manner of reasons
India - want to go, diverse country, really cheap.
USA - endless possibilities there!OU Student! - ED209, SDK125, DSE212, SK124, DSE141, SD226, DXR222, DD303, DD307 = BSc Psychology0 -
If money were no object I would either have a month on Petit St Vincent with a suitcase full of books & little else. Or I'd do (practically) overland from London to NZ, some friends did it a few years ago & had lots of fun.
How about a cruise to Alaska from Seattle or Vancouver? Vancouver is amazing, but then I've loved every bit of Canada that I've seen so far. Never been on a cruise, it kind of freaks me out, but you can get educational ones with talks & guides.
Or do you fancy leaning to ski, or dive, or horse ride, or mountainclimb or any number of other things? It's a great opportunity. Have a great time.
India, South America, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia all amazing. Expensive to get to, but cheap once you're there.0
