Hi Souk,
glad you had a fun week off. Your mum sounds so lovely, give her an extra hug from me.
I was kept awake by screaming thing downstairs until 12.45 & it wasnt unilt I did my 'elephant in hob nailed boots with door slamming fetish' impersonation that the lazy parents hauled themselves out of bed .
What sort of parent leaves a toddler to scream for over an hour ? At one point it was doing a duet with it's twin  but then continued alone; relentless & determined to get a reaction & must have such a sore throat this morning. I would be less miffed if I hadnt donated a large bag of books to their eldest daughter 3 days ago.
I was contemplating passing on some clothes too, but as I'm not kept awake by hysterical octogenarians I shall donate them to Help the Aged instead.
Anyway, I still bounced into work all groomed & cheerful & ready to do battle with His Royal Gropiness but he was out :j & one of the guys greeted me with " Aaaah, here's our little ray of sunshine" which had me beaming like one all day :blushing:. We single ladies are so easily pleased :rotfl:.
Yet another new guy has joined the team & wow what a treat he is. I told Grumpy to keep them coming
.
Gropey showed up about an hour before I left & has obviously been reading my Quest & makeups advice as, before I could get up & grab a folder, he had his arm around my shoulders giving me a quick hug while I was sat down :wall:.
Not much home-job work today but that's ok as I needed to sort through Mount Shredmorewhich I have now done. Inspite of massive spending & numerous bids on ebay I'm on NSD number 9 & have done all the surveys I can too. Still waiting for box of trial laundry wash to arrive & also a voucher ...
I think I have money to pay some off the debts, but darent yet as there are so many debit card payments still to be processed. wont earn much at al with home-job this week as DD is performing at nearby childrens festival on wednesday & I have to chauffeur her there for rehearsal, come back, return to watch, then come home again all after school.
I need a new challenge to keep me on the Debt Free Path ... found myself wandering on to the monarch website checking for prices of flights to Portugal earlier ... of course I can afford them, I have a CC
Thankfully it's the thought of the £300+ spending money that puts me off, although I am getting that Council Tax rebate ...
I'd better go to bed now before I do something silly
night night

Hello gorgeous people of DFW,
it has been far too long since I last popped in & my resons are varied & not all due to naughtiness ...
Wednesday was DDs choir performance & I am slightly ashamed to admit that I want particularly looking forward to it. To me, the word 'choir' conjures up memories of having to trill religiously in Latin
.
This type of choir singing is nothing at all like that though. There were 8 different schools performing a wonderful set about a childs view of the familiar "how's your day been ? " question most parents ask; with lyrics that were at times funny & at times very thought provoking accompanied by some funky guitar riffs & drum beats . Very enjoyable & an excellent opportunity to people watch too.
Having distracted you with all that I can now sneak in the fact that there has been yet more spending .
Although I went over my monthly living budget yonks ago, I have been doing ok with the household & groceries, (just as long as I dont count sweets, choc or booze as groceries ) Until todaythat is, when it all got a bit silly in Waitrose when I decided that not only did I need a pretty Cath Kidston mug for £4 but that it would be a great idea to buy a litre of Gordon because it was £3 off & a litre of Pimms because that was also £3 off ... add in some mixers & next thing you know I'm at the till handing over £88.96 .
Next stop was Boots where I felt compelled to spend another £5 off voucher before it ran out. Actually I'm not going to defend that, it was very money saving. I dropped off some goods at the charity shop - loads of DDs clothes & some other bits & as I was leaving I spotted a couple of Cath Kidston plates in the window for £3 so I snapped them up.
The £10 voucher I claimed for surveys has been burning a hole in my purse so I thought about what would be useful & decided that a new bbq was in order. Amazingly, the one I wanted was on promotion with a £20 discoutn & then I added in my £10 gift card & hey presto I now have the bbq I wanted at half the original price :j.
I had to collect a parcel from the post office today & that turned out to be a box of washing powder I'm trying out for points. Before I rush off to spend £30 on household items at Tatco in order to receive my £6 discount I must check out to see whether I actually need that amount of stuff, my suspicion is that I dont but I will go online to check it out anyway. I need to reutrn 2 of DDs school shirts anyway so could combine the trip.
I also spent £12 on 3 giant bags of compost which will last me for ages ... need more pots now.
Cut the grass & had to empty the box 10 times , cant fit anymore in the compost bin & had to start a pile next to it, must not leave weeks & weeks between cuts.
The funds are all topped up & the first minimum payment to Virgin CC went out today. A week til payday & with my shiny new tax disc already in place & the various funds I feel confident that I can do some serious scrimpage & hence debt busting in the next couple of months. There will not be any unnecessary or unbudgeted spending ...
night night

Morning all,
just to show you how determined I am, I've already been on my supermarket & can get my household items for £30.17 in order to qualify for the £6 discount.
DD1 + boyf coming over for a bbq later, so must now go hang out the washing ( including my stripped bed sheets - get me ) then clean the place so it's suitable for inspection & laudnry doesnt stink of sausages
Next plan is to strategically place wardrobe doors so that boyf cannot help but offer to fit them.
Other plans for the weeknd include goin to the allotment & visiting the rels that I didnt see last weekend.
bye for now

You sound as though you have been very productive Lula - I havent been doing so well and now I am thinking of paying someone to come and clean my oven and hob:o I have been a bit naughty with my clothes spending and admit to buying some more fenn wright & manson stuff - but I did get a bargainous jacket for £59 saving myself a cool £141:cool: Yesterday I nipped to a tiny boutique that sells cheap clothes and spent about £20 buying a skirt and two pairs of cropped trousers - one pair in cheesecloth type material and the other in linen..now the linen pair was taken back today because they were way too small (a size 14) and I had to swap them for a size 18:eek: then the lady in the shop said that they had been cut exceptionally small:mad:
There is a way to deal with the screaming babies downstairs - report the parents to the social services. Sorry to hear that you have a gropey boss - there is nothing worse - when I go networking there is a chap that insists on giving me a hug and those stupid continental kisses or he will actually kiss me on the cheek - he thinks he is being polite but I think its creepy.
I need to get out onto my balcony and need to dispose of two very large cardboard boxes first including their shredded paper and polystyrene chips..I need to replace the soil in my window boxes and start growing seeds..I am sick of buying bags of lettuce leaves when I can grow my own.0 -
Morning all,
I now seem to wake up at about 6 every day & I love it. It's quiet, peaceful & I can get stuff done - another load of washing is occurring as I type.
H - I feel the same about lettuce, I have to keep buying too & I think I might just get myself a salad basket before a frugal June starts ...
When the choice is between walking 5 mintues to local co op or getting in the car & driving to the allotment I'm sure you can imagine which wins.
I'm due up there today to do some labouring & although others have arranged to meet at 11.30, I intend to be done long before that. To be digging out in the sun at that time of day in this weather strikes me as ludicrous & I am again feeling slightly rebellious about the allotment.
Anyway...
I was at the co op by 8.30 yesterday morning & spent another £23 on more food for the bbq. It matters not though as it was a really lovely day. It's the first time that DD1s b/f has been here & once he'd realised that we dont stand on ceremony he seemd relaxed & was very good at getting the bbq going. He's also very very good at fitting wardrobe doors
.
I ate far too much & it turns out that no one wanted any Pimms, so the bottle is still unopened, I did get a couple of Gordons though. We actually ended up with spare burgers so I stuffed them in the freezer & also some of the rolls so the next bbq wont be quite so costly.
The washing machine has finished doing it's fabulous thing so I'm off to throw some clothes on, hang it all out n the line & then finish planting out the remainder of the 200 seedlings _pale_ before heading off to allotment land ...
must update clothes challenge later ( have a couple of bids ending today )
bye for now

Wow,
another very busy & productive weekend draws to a close & I'm bracing myself for a nasty week at work. due to losing a day next week ( bank holiday) I may have to work on friday. The current BIG project means I have to do a rolling round of tasks each week & I really cant let go for one minute.
Anyway, I managed to plant about half the seedlings, did some ironing & then we did a couple of hours at the alotment before the heat drained me & we came home, grabbed some lunch, gathered washing in off the line & then headed off to spend the afternoon with the rels. They seem to be fine & it was quite nice to just sit for a few hours & not do much. I managed to relieve dear Father of one of his large pots & have now planted the birch tree sapling that I discovered the other day. I have strategically placed the pot so that neighbours cant drive up over my path.
Finished the ironing, had a bath, paid for my ebay items & checked my current account which looks far healthier than it should due to play camp money not having left yet. Paid £50 to Barclaycard & those clever enough to remember that I did a balance transfer a few weeks ago & should not therefore be having to pay anything, should just mind their own business. I said I wasnt going to use the co op CC anymore & I havent :A... I've been using Barclaycard instead  I'm a bit anxious that if I dont use it they may decide to cut the limit on it at which point I will definitely have some type of emergency that I will no longer be able to pay for.
I've really lost track of things a bit so plan to have major assault on the finances, snowball calculator, budget & projections next weekend & will start my frugality all over again.
The weight loss needs to start happening too.
Watched the Michael Moore film last night & found it all rather disturbing.
Do I have to be either a capitalist or a socialist ? I dislike having to place myself into categories chosen by other people .
Think I'll just continue with being a rebel for now0 -
far too sleepy to be constructive, just dropping by to say hello, all sounds good Lula, have a good week xxxxNevertheless she persisted.0

Hi Lula
Knowing you are a fan of Faith Shoes I wondered if you had heard that as they have gone into administration apparently all stock in store is reduced as from today (a friend told me as they walked past the sheffield store). Not encouraging you to spend of course but for anyone passing near to a store might be worth keeping an eye out for bargains.
Hoping the brand doesn't disappear altogether though.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
