Kraft chocolate doesnt sound as unctuous as cadbury dairy milk - keep cadbury with the cadbury family I say:D

Lula you are doing better than me with the spends - I spent a ridiculous amount today:eek: £10 on a handmade italian umbrella (I did want the £50 one but decided that I couldnt justify spending that much ona n umbrella for day to day use:eek:) and I bought a gorgeous lamp - I couldnt stop looking at it yesterday or today so I went and bought it for £55 - it retails for anything between £165 and £200 depending on the shop:eek: It looks gorgeous in my living room:cool:

I also met an equally gorgeous man - he is one of my facebook friends and he suggest that I visit him today in Hall 2 (the kitchenware hall) - the company he workds for sells gorgeous kitchenware to places like Lakeland and the V&A - the saucepans were too good to use as they were quite colourful (blimey, I can even make cookware sound sexy:rotfl:). Whilst I waited for him to be free of customers, I sat and had a free cup of espresso coffee and was given a free copy of Good Food magazine which is full of yummy recipes which I shall try this week.

I had better get my flat tidied and my office as I am due to have a work station assessment done next Wednesday by a man from Action for Blind People (courtesy of Access to Work), I am hoping for a new laptop paid for by the government:D

Happy & sunny morning to all :)

Horace, phwoarrrr to tasty young man; keep him close, I love Lakeland stuff ;). Well done getting a bargainous new lamp, and chic new umbrella, I dont actually think £10 is that much. Our local Woolies used to sell boring old Totes ones for that price & they werent very fab or chic so I think you have another bargainous find there :D.

Life in Lulaville is still trotting along according to the general plan. This morning I had washing on the line by 9 & was chopping up the branches of the birch tree that had mysteriously become detached from the main trunk . In truth not so mysterious, On monday I heard a knock at the door & peeking down the stairs I saw what appeared to be the grim reaper standing there .... in fact it was he-who-doesnt-deserve-to-be-mentioned-here with a long pruning hook type thing. I ignored his presence & off he went. Not sure whether this would work for the real grim reaper.

It was only the next day when hanging out washing that I discovered the branches & assumed that he had either belatedly - about 2 years - decided to get on with lopping the tree as requested, in an effort to appease me or, just wanted to be destructive . Who knows / cares, the job is done, he's gone silent again & today I took all the stuff to the dump. I like my bonfires but there was far too much greenery & I also dumped the old keyboard & phone too. Out recycling centre is ever expanding & today I noticed they now have a bra bank & it's pink :D.

DD1 was delighted with my plan to commandeer all her birthday treasure & turn it into a laptop. Small DD is not so delighted that I have decided to commandeer all the coppers & direct them towards my bank account. I've said she can keep saving the 5ps but I need the rest more than she does & they are all generated from my money in the first place so there :p.

The funds have all been topped up & are as follows :

    Gas & electricity £100
    Car tax £ 40
    Presents £ 50
DDs clubs £ 70 ( paid £25 Brownies subs yesterday)
    Car £ 20
    Clothes £ 10
    Groceries £ 35
    Miscellanea £ 10

Although I have gone over this weeks grocery budget by £1.01p & will probably need to buy more milk tomorrow I am expecting to spend less next week as we still have a lot of basics left so I'm expecting to be buying fruit & fresh veg + a few tinned items.

The new miscellanea category has been introduced to cover things like parking ( airport collection tomorrow), window cleaner, random stuff like that. I hope not to have to use it often & if not used then it will go into the bank toward the CCs. I suppose any unused Grocery cash should also go in there .... will see how I feel about that if/when it happens :rotfl:.

Plan for the rest of the day is to clean, wash, dust, polish & hoover everything. Best get on with it then ...

    Hi Lula

Only just caught up with reading this new questing thread. From your opening post

At present out petite maison is full of shabby & just waiting for the chic to emerge. Over the next 2 years I plan to overhaul the whole place on a very petite budget & continue to declutter at the same time. I long for simplicity & aim for DD & I to be people who do stuff rather than people who have stuff. Yep, I still want the camper van & that comes under doing rather than having as it will open up such huge opportuntities for travel within the UK.

Just wanted to say this might have been a sentence that you just rattled off but it really struck a chord with me. I know I am materialistic but wish I was not - I'm going to remember this phrase for those moments when I'm hovering over purchasing more unnecessary stuff (because most of it is just 'stuff' not things that mean a great deal really).

    Good luck questing!

    Morning,

just a flying visit (ha ha) as I'm off to the airport soon to collect my aunt. I have cleaned, tidied, scrubbed & even decided to do a spot of late night painting too.

Tixy - thanks for popping in :D & as to my mantra; it kind of came into my head as I was thinking about how I wanted to change my/our life. For so many years I have aspired to own stuff & that attitude has certainly contributed to my little debt heap, to the extent that we struggle to afford to do stuff. I see no point in having fabulous stuff if all I can afford to do is sit at home surrounded by it. A tad Miss Haversham perhaps but thats enough to scare me back on to the right path.

The minimalist in me is screaming to be let out & should start in my kitchen cupboards where there is wealth of equipment that I never use / wouldnt have a clue how to :o:rotfl:. The less things we own , the less cleaning & tidying there is to be done :j.

Off to to burn up some fuel now ...

    Lula
    xx

    Hello again,

I've had really lovely social couple of days. I collected my aunt from the airport ( £4 for one hour's parking ) it took ages to get back here, but we di it enventually, had some lunch, collected DD from school & then dropped aunt over to my grandmothers place. Plenty of miles done but due to the vagaries of the M25 we shuffled along at a very annoying 30 -40 mph so didnt get to burn too much fuel.

I spent about £6 in the co op on lunch bits so owed next weeks groceries about £7.00. Today I was up & about early stripping the beds & hanging washing out. Pootled off to the shops & spent another £8 out of next weeks grocery money. Decide to make some hobnobs to take along to the pool & barbecue party this afternoon but didnt have enough sugar so DD offered to go back to the shops by herself . I was scared but she promised she would be fine so off she went on her own for the first time ever ... & returned safely having managed to avoid either being squished by a car or stolen by a weirdo :j. She was actually more impressed that she had managed to not spend the change in the sweet shop :rotfl:. I did point out to her that it wasnt actually her oney to spend & that she would get the rest of her pocket money when she has tidied her room .

Anyway, we had a fab time at the party, played in the pool for ages, sat in the sun, caught up on everyones news, had lots of lovely healthy food & everyone enjoyed the hobnobs, apart from me who didnt have any - Bowski's challenge :D- & the woman who is vegan .

I'm quite pleased that we're keeping busy since coming back from holiday as that was the plan; doing stuff rather than having stuff ;).

I did have to buy a bottle of wine on the way home from the
party as I seem to feel it necessary to have a couple of glasses in the evening at the moment so my treats budget is pretty low as well. I havent spent the £5 off voucher at Boots as I realised that it couldnt be used with the 250 points voucher & I didnt actually need any make up. It's only a saving if I actually need the stuff.

I have about £10 left for shopping until next sunday which could be interesting, about £30 left in the treats budget & £3 in the miscellanea :(

Will have to be very canny & creative with the food next week.

I have clean sheets tonight so looking forward to bed time & may struggle to get up to the allotment tomorrow morning ...

I love clean sheets, unfortunately so does the dog so they're never clean for long and he smells extra bad this week

And, sharing sheets is a slippery slope, you'll be walking behind them with the laundry basket in no time, picking up after them and all that hassle
