And you think I havent already found it & subscribed  :rotfl:
Thanks anyway:A
I've subscribed too, someones posted about using a potato peeler to get thin slices of cheese, I nearly always do this as I can't be bothered getting the grater from the cupboard underneath the cutlery drawer :rotfl: It must be the natural mse in me! Just off to post the other recipe I have then I'm off, night!0 -
Just been lurking on sarahbs thread and even more reason for you to come up and drink my alcohol Lula, I'm from that postcode that is the only one on uk mainland that doesn't have a tatco. We do have an express but even more reason to boycot, they refused to serve me alcohol :rotfl::rotfl:I stomped back with my driving licence and my 'I can have a pub' licence.
We have a great place called fultons, everything is on sale0 -

What an outrage  just wish I'd seen the face when you flashed your 'I can have a pub licence' :T sad to say but it's more of worry when you stop getting asked for ID .
Maybe it's time for The Quest to head for the freedom, liberty & untamed wilderness now known as Tatco-Freeville.

Evening/ morning to all,
I am rather tired so please forgive the typos - nothing to do with pink elephant wine at all
All things considered thursday was a good day
Home job provided just enough to pay something to all the funds & give me £40 for the weeks shopping & miscellanea. I'll update the figures later, brain not working properly at the moment .
Had a good day at Work Job, getting the hang of it a bit more now & have finally learned everyone's name. I have been offered to go on the payroll as a permanent part time employee. No chance of getting rid of Home job yet, but I am on the path back to 'proper' full time employment
I had to go on a mercy mission requiring the loan of £50 to a certain person who is apparently incapable of basic money management, wont say more as I am still seething & it was a 50 mile round trip .
Moving on .... I received a £2 coin in my change from the Pink Elephant wine, a £1.50 off voucher from lovefilm towards yummy waitrose cakes, a voucher for free pizza at Waitrose worth £3.99, free coffees at work & my bid didnt win the pair of boots on ebay so have saved myself £20 :rotfl:
Both DD & I were so hungry after mercy missio that I dived into the co op on the way home & bought her a shepherds pie for £1.14 & a surprisingly & also worryingly tasty rustler burger at £1.49 for me + a pack of teacakes reduced to 45p. according to the B.P.B & my receipts this means that I have gone over my grocery budget by 8p . I can live with that.
Need to do a shop tomorrow & will buy a large quantity of mince in order to brew up some tasty meals in my cauldron. I put a few meal suggestions to DD & she was very enthusiastic. That child will say anything that makes me forget that she still hasnt finished her room :rotfl:yes, I taught her everything I know about avoidance techniques.
Catpuss is a quirky character; has taken a real liking to drinking any drips of water left in the bath or washbasin. He's so good natured & I've now started ushering him out of the door when he heads towards his litter tray
. I feel the same way about that as I did about nappies  ie a necessary evil that should be discouraged & followed by a course of intensive retraining ASAP.
I have done nothing earthy for a week or two now & really feel the need to get my wellies on again, grass needs cutting before the leaves start falling & I need to reorgansie my logpile too as it fell over while we were on holiday & it's still lying there
eeeek, it's one o clock, need my bed now
G'night

Hello again,
I am now fully refreshed after a few hours sleep, a large cup of coffee, a hobnob & a trip to Waitrose.
I took a list with me, I stuck to the list & came home with everything I needed & only one small extra item.
I spent a total of £30.57p & for that I gathered :
2 packs of drinks for DDs packed lunches ( 4 weeks worth for £4.30), a bottle of olive oil, reduced mascarpone pasta sauce, jar of mixed herbs, reduced jar of DDs fave curry sauce, 3 tins of sweetcorn, reduced fairtrade bananas, large tin of cocoa powder, extra item ie jar of english mustard - Old Stylers rave about it's ability to give a plain meal a bit of a kick & at only 55p  - large bag of potatoes, oranges, apples, milk, 2 packs of mince, sunflower spread, crackers, naan bread, creme fraiche, peppermint tea, box of cereal, large pack of spaghetti & more long life bread.
The bread is more thinly sliced than the regular stuff but it does stay fresh & it's wholemeal & only 79p. This will help me with the weight as delicious bread is big weakness of mine. The chunkier, more seedy & nutty & thicker the better. Unfortunately, it has the same effect on my waistline too
I also got the free pizza & while discussing how I came by the voucher with the lady on the till (NOTE - lady was interested in the voucher & did not attempt to belittle me by using it or force her opinions down my throat).
Lesson one in retaining your customers;
Treat them with the respect they deserve for spending their money in your shop. There are many other shops they can go to; not all customers are loyal to your nasty, unethical, mass produced, value products.
I would also like to point out that the staff at Tatco who do appear to have a sense of customer service are usually the Polish or other East European nationals rather than the average indigenous 'Glenda' type .
Moving on ... I cant wait to start the batch cooking marathon but first have to clean & scrub la maisonette as it's covered in cat fur again.
I have been outbid on another item on ebay but am determined to let it go ... I have spotted 2 pairs of very nice boots that are the same cost ( including postage) as one of the pairs I was looking at in River Island. I may have to just buy them now
I've had my e-bill from Virgin & am relieved that it has been reduced to £ 36.97 this time, about £9 less than last month. Clearly, using free mobile phone calls is the way forward .
Right, off to have some soup & then on with the cleaning ...0 -
Super news on the permanent position Lula that should make your income feel much more secure and a fair bit more predicatable. Fingers crossed they include paid holiday and sick leave in your contract too.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

I was then asked if I wanted a bag and I told him I didn't, I wanted to carry the bottle in my arms so I could show everyone I could buy wine like a grown up :rotfl::rotfl: Must point out that his attitude and treatment of me was just awful and I was really riled, I'm not usually nasty to shop assistants, unless they prevent me from buying wine .
Well done on progressing at the new job and getting all that shopping from waitrose :T I've only been going to mine in emergencies as I always expect it to be more expensive, I imagine that as they shut at 8pm I'd be more likely to get 'oops' stuff.
Have you had a look at big wardrobe for boots? Not that I'm encouraging you to shop
Good luck with toilet training the cat!0 -
Yet more news ...
I have bought a pair of boots on ebay, for the fantastic sum of £14.95 leather & hardly worn - I examine the closeup pics very carefullyJust hope they're comfortable, but if they're not then at least it's only £15 from my treats fund.
I was bidding on another pair but in the end they went for £1 more than my highest bidI dont really care though, I set my price & stuck to it
I've completed enough surveys to qualify for another £10 voucher & this time opted for Amazon. DD has birthday money & wants a new game for her DS. I checked out HMV - Quidco & Top cashback - but the game was £24.99 . We headed over to Amazon & a seller had it for £9.70 + 1.94 postage . I used my e-voucher & another £1.64 from my account & DD is happy to refund me with cash which will go towards debt repayment.
I'm very impressed with Argos pet insurance; it's already been validated so that should be on its way to my account soon.
So far today cat hasnt used his litter tray :j. Every so often I usher him out of the door & I think he's getting the message. Currently fast alseep on top of the dining/homework table.
Just watched weather forecast & definitely need to cut the grass this weekend :rolleyes:0 -
*sighs with contentment*
Hello I've had a great day today & am so nicely chilled I could almost be a pink elephant
Started off the day sat up in bed finishing off the library book witha cup off delicious coffee & a homemade brownie, this was while the washing machine was doing its thing so when it finished I got up & dressed & went to the garden to hang the washing on the line.
While I was outside I decide to clear any debris form the garden & stash away the table & chairs for the winter so that I could easily cut the grass later.
Headed off to the allotment & did the usual weeding & tidying & covering yet another patch with manure to keep it all snug & warm over winter.
Harvested some more leeks, a couple of peppers, a bunch of rocket & a pair of beast sized fennel bulbs. As soon as we got in the car DD demanded some more leek & potato soup so had to stop off at the shop on the way home to grab a packet of rolls ( I can see that making our own bread is the next step) as a whole NSD was spoilt for 79p ).
Soup duly made & devoured with just one bowl saved for another day. Next stop the garden to cut the grass. Turns out Catapuss is as fond of lawnmowers as he is of hoovers  he was quite happy to come & inspect my work once I'd finished though & watching him & DD play was great.
Washing all brought in & hung in the magic airing cupboard then on with a spot of batch cooking :eek:What felt like hours & the use of every cooking receptacle later we have 3 portions of bolognese/lasagne sauce, one individual shepeherds pie in the freezer & one portion of shepeherds pie without the potato ( didnt cook enough potatoes ) in the fridge. We also had sheherds pie for supper. I still have to think of something fab to do with beasty fennel bulbs so will have to wander over to OS in a bit.
Dad also turned up with a huge bag of grapes from his vine & we got a free snail too :rotfl:.
We will need some more milk during the week as DD is drinking cocoa again now that it's chilly - I just love autumn :j but other than that I reckon we can get through the week on our supplies. Obviously wont eat all the batch cooking as that would be a meat overdose, we only eat meat/chicken/fish on alternate days so there will be some cheesy potato bake at some point & most definitely a jacket potato or two. Tomorrow I will bake some more hobnobs & weetabix brownies which keeps DD satisfied & away from the shops.
I lost another out to another bidder on ebay again today so if nothing else turns up I will try to have a morning spent charity shopping this week. I need something warm & woolly to wear.
I've paid £30 to CC1 & £35 to CC2 so the total debt is currently £ 5,720.
Off to update sig & then bed
G'night
