Rip off Ebay final value fees

Ive just been charged £30 for selling golf clubs on ebay thats a 10% rip off fee. Also if that wasn't enough paypal charged £10 for the payment and transfer, again a rip off. In future I'll try and sell any goods not using Ebay, they are just being greedy!!
I strongly recommend you ignore everything I say. Investments can go up as well as down, and is purely gambling

OP, ebay is expensive and it does pay to do your research into fees before opting to use it.

Unfortunately if you were looking for a good price then ebay does offer your item to hundreds of thousands of people and you have to pay for that. The only other real alternative to keep costs down is local ads, you pay a certain amount for the advert and then can take cash on collection.

Alternatively, you now have £260 ish in your pocket that you would not have otherwise had if you left the clubs in the back of the garage.

Or if you listed them for free in the local paper, you may only have got £200 for them...

    Horses for courses.

If you do not like the fees, you are not forced to use eBay.

    Expensive compared to ?

Sale at £300 - pay £30 commission. Could sell in local paper or car boot, reaching a fraction of the potential buyers and might make £200.

Which is the better deal ?
  • If it was a cash on collection auction then cancel the transaction. Ebay dont actually know that it has been collected and paid for and you get your final fee's back. Both parties have to agree to this.

Fee avoidance?....maybe. But if both parties are happy, then why not. (runs and hides)

  • Thanks for amusing me for a couple of minutes..
