Wow - that's a powerful amount of thinking!
I believe that I may have pinched that phrase myself, so your colleagues' annoyance may not be down to me. In turn, I will be attempting to say 'I'm damn well going to give it a go' at every available juncture. For example, 'Edinburgher - can you help me dry the dishes?' Me: 'I'm damn well going to give it a go!'
Your plans all sound, well sound enough and properly thought out. Might you need to re-jig your responsibilities to the bank of Mum depending upon her work situation pans out? I was reading a snippet from the personal finance book 'The Millionaire Next Door' and it transpires that adults who receive handouts from their parents regularly earn 2% less than their peers who don't and (more significantly), their net worth is almost 60% lower! At last - I can be pleased about the fact that my parents never once offered me a handout during my 5 years as a student.... :rotfl:0 -
Great news about the od facility In a Picke. I too am looking forward this Xmas to update my signature, and update my snowball plan as some ofmy dedbt is on a lower rate. See what i can do to improve my dfd. Take care In a Pickle! My debts at LBM (2009)Grand Total £161,983.77.(Incs everything, mtge, cr cards, loans)
May 2013 £124,080.27= £37,903.50 paid off WOW!!!!! Well done! There is a guardian angel out there! :AI'm visualising success, debt freeness, and happy days!:T0 -
Thanks PaF and Ed!
Update:
1) Won £5 on BB last night and the same today, meaning that I have won £30 overall in about 4/5 days (can't remember how long exactly), but certainly less than a week. That's £25 profit after the intial stake being paid back. Good stuff.
2) Most of the Ebay items I have put up haven't attracted much interest, but a few high-value items have watchers and my old, very, very dead laptop which I wouldn't have thought anyone would pick up from the roadside has had one bif for £50 and has 4 watchers. I am gobsmacked: talk about turning muck to gold! That bloody thing has cost me more money and heartache than I could ever possibly tell you, and I would never have thought it fit for anything more than recycling, but I'm delighted to get £50 for it and if I get any more I really might faint! Unbelieveble!
3) Just seen how much I'm getting paid this month and I'm quite darn impressed with the figure. I may (calculations pending) be able to squirrel £400 to the CC debt, but that might be mince pie in the sky depending on several factors, so I should stop conjecturing until I know one way or another.
4) I've been taxed AGAIN and I shouldn't be: I've spoken to them about it and everything. I know I can claim it back, but I think I will probably have to wait until the end of the year and that money could be paid off the CC meaning that I don't have to pay more interest. Grr!
5) Had very busy day today: up, Ebay, write invoices, go to different city with mum for work stuff, come back from different city then leave straight away after only picking up my car keys to get to work for a 5-11 shift. Phew! Am relaxing with a sambuca & coke QI. (I love QI!)
6) Need to get up early-ish to comlete my Ebay listing on my one other really high value item which is electronic and has some small accessories dotted around the place which I need to find before I can sell it. If I could sell that as well and the other three high value items I have I would be over the moon and the CC bill would be half-destroyed. C'mon Ebuyers! :T:j
And Ed, don't worry about mum too much: I'll sort it out as and when necessary but it makes more financial sense to get rid of interest-bearing debt while possible. And as for 'handouts', they were a student-thing when the situation was as different in so many ways as it is possible to imagine, and I don't get them now. In fact, a lot of what I want to pay mum back was a 'treat' or something like that, but that I felt was too kind to not warrant paying it back. In fact, mum had a converstion with me a few weeks ago, saying how I didn't have to pay her back at all, but I'm gong to anyway. (I haven't told her yet, so she can't object to what she doesn't know!)

OMG! If I manage to pay £400 off my CC this month that will leave me with less than £1000 to pay off the CC.
If I could start the new year like that, it would make me SOOO happy! Please call me 'Pickle'

You might be shocked (or not) to find out how much replacement parts cost for a laptop, so maybe someone plans to strip it down. For example, a replacement screen can cost £££s.I'm quite darn impressed with the figure
You and me should so start a 'people don't actually use these sorts of expressions any more.... do they?' clubOMG! If I manage to pay £400 off my CC this month that will leave me with less than £1000 to pay off the CC.
That would be a brilliant start to the year and a huge psychological boost. My GF is paying off the last of her student debts in 3 weeks and she's been strutting around the place like a duchess for weeksIt's always nice to end the year on a debt-busting high.

Hi In a Pickle, a complete change of subject. Tell me, how far before Xmas do you think I could get away with making homemade mince pies so that theyh still are fresh. Am just planning my week of cooking next week , putting the hampers altogether. Am thinking tues would be good to give out on Xmas day? Asking you as you seem to be into your baking/cooking like me!My debts at LBM (2009)Grand Total £161,983.77.(Incs everything, mtge, cr cards, loans)

Hey PaF! That's a good question, I already posted a reply in your thread, but I probably wouldn't leave it more than a few days. Could you freeze some to see what the defrost like? I must admit, I've never frozen a ince pie before, but perhaps it would be worth trying on one first and then more if it works out. I mean, they can't be too different to a sausage roll, can they?!
Best of luck, but try it on one of two first.
And best of luck with the debtbusting: It seems that you are doing brilliantly! :TPlease call me 'Pickle'

I'll have to write it another time else I'll just be spitting bile all over my laptop screen. GAH! :mad:Please call me 'Pickle'

Oh dear. *hugs*
Always tick the 'remember me' box whenever you log in (even if you then click 'log out' afterwards). Stops such nonsense from happening. If it's just your laptop, stay logged in. I've not been logged out since I joined, save for when I went on a cookie crunching mission.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
