The consultation process was supposed to run until 10th Nov, and claimed that they would only introduce the changes if there was consensus. I guess the Government wasn't getting the supportive comments they were looking for!
Some consultation process!
Does anyone know how to put up a Downing Street petition?I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
I just hope that they don't say that there weren't enough people that objected to the proposals.
They have the wherewithall to contact each and every person who at the present time would be affected by any of the proposals regarding AA/DLA. If they really wanted a consensus, this is the way they could have done it.0 -
Peter Hand, Director of Mencap has posted a Downing Street Petition on this issue:

attached it to my face book account to get more people to notice it,
a lot of people don't realise, but it may not affect them, but it could be their parents/grandparents that need this money tooLife is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0 -
What is worrying is that people think this is about disabled people and doesn't affect them.
But anyone can have a car accident, or be struck down by a serious illness at any time. And as you say, our parents and grandparents could need these benefits in the future even if they don't need them now. And we will all be old one day!I'm a retired employment solicitor. Everyone gets old and most become infirm, it will affect most people.
We need to take action to stop what little help we get being snatched away.It may end up with people out on the streets protesting.Barclaycard 3800

Just to say the government's own website is up and running again.
So do click the link in the first post and state your objections. You can put as much or as little as you want.
I found it difficult to write in the box because it has half hidden on my pc and the 'submit' button didn't work. So I wrote it in word, cut and pasted it onto the box and hit return, and then it worked fine.I'm a retired employment solicitor. i posted a letter on the you gov website i dont suppose anything will come of it but who knows the people that run that survey site have better contacts than i do,0

This will never get passed through so really, theres nothing to worry about.
Can you imagine the uproar if it DID get passed through??
"Disabled people are not fit to decide what to do with their own money.....so the council does it for them".
Not a chance in hell of being passed.0 -

They came and measured for a ramp, then the ss manager said that it wasn't permanent enough. Then they measured for a ramp up the stairs and the price came to £22,000 and I would have to pay half. So they didn't get in touch for months and months. I telephoned them to ask what they were doing but still they did not do anything.
It is now well over a year on top of the 18 months since I heard from them and they still think that I am housebound. I went and bought a rollaramp for £2000 which did the job.
I will never ever let them idiots into my home again. They only help those who have nobody working in the family and if you happen to have a partner who is working full time to pay the bills they are just not interested. I should have really complained to her manager but what is the point? Their wages are money for old rope!
Now been told that i will not be allowed a ramp, as my front door opens to a communal walkway and it would block access for other tenants, fine no problem, but what about me........... oh well you'll just have to move, ahh as easy as that then :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0
