Personally, I sell professionally so I go to the PO 6 days a week. I ship out within 24 hours of payment being received. You would expect then, that I have "5 stars" for dispatch time? Hell no! I get marked down for that by some buyers. What do they expect? Should I get into the car and nip round with it personally? There's just no pleasing some ebayers.
there are some down right awkward buyers out there but i suspect part of the reason you get less than 5 stars sometimes is because ebay never thought it necessary to explain to buyers how the DSR system works.
Had i not been a seller myself i would probably have given everyone 4 out of 5 stars for standard good service reserving the 5 stars for those that went the extra mile, ebay should explain that it works like scoring a boxing match, sellers start with 5 stars and you take away for poor service, that’s the only way the system works accurately otherwise it's just perceptive and by the very nature inaccurate, if it was just a guide that’s fine but when they issue penalties for lower ratings should they not at least explain the system to buyers?....0 -
There is another round of postal strikes this week also. Only special delivery will make any guarantees.0

Hence the free p+p DSR drop situation- buyers don't know how much value they are getting, so they mark it as three star or whatever.there are some down right awkward buyers out there but i suspect part of the reason you get less than 5 stars sometimes is because ebay never thought it necessary to explain to buyers how the DSR system works.

I also suspect that many buyers look more at delivery time rather than despatch when choosing their stars for that category, which is a pain.
I half think that ebay should give people tutorials before buying or selling... but I doubt it would do much good, and would put many people off. (It would be a problem for us as most of our buyers and sellers are either a bit thick or rushed mums- either way I can't see them sitting through a lesson)This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.

The pinks on the PS board have said that ebay are looking at the P&P DSR as if you offer free P&P you should only be able to get a 5.Terms & Conditions Apply0

Sometimes it doesn't mean immediate despatch cos most ebay people dont do it for a living and real life gets in the way so they can only post intermittently: just so long as they set realistic expectations of delivery during the transaction then I'm cool. I work full time but always try to post next working day or at least within a couple of days - emailing buyers all the time to let them know when - and I expect the same from sellers.
However, I am sitting here drumming my fingers at the mo cos I bought an item on 22/8, paid immediately, and I've only just got the Paypal email advising me that it is being despacthed TODAY. In the meantime the seller had the cheek to email me at the end of last week - a week after the auction ended - to tell me that she'd been away on holiday so was only just getting around to packaging it up and sending it!! I've been grinding my teeth until it arrives and mentally composing my feedback, DSR ratings and a suitably polite but firm email to the seller. I've never yet had to do this so any tips from MSE-rs on the appropriate wording will be appreciated!!£2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250

What was the dispatch time quoted on the listing ?
22nd was a Saturday, so if 5-7 business days, then today is still within that timescale due to the bank holiday.
All listings now need to include a UK dispatch time (after payment) - the sellers should post within that period, and if its earlier then that is a bonus. Immediate payment does not equil immediate dispatch, although good customer service suggests that posting quickly for those that pay quickly is best practice.
I sold an item early August and got an email saying "paypal problems, blah, blah will pay soon". I replied saying fine, but if after the 13th then I will not be able to post until 1 Sept. Payment received on the 18th and come back to a load of "where is my item" emails. Durrrr0 -

Ok so as a seller I get paid in the morning. Pack and take to PO in the afternoon. Always get proof of posting. BUT what happens when the po lose it. Where do the buyers stand then? The po are responsible for most complaints being made for late or lost items but we get the negs.0

I have never ever got a neg or even a neutral for a lost item even in the dreadful Christmas 2005 disaster where my stuff was disappearing in the sorting office and flagged a full blown PO enquiry.
I reassure my buyers that they will get a refund, usually expect them to wait until into the second week but then refund in full and with as pleasant a manner as I cna muster. If I have a replacement it is sent though of course.
I got one neutral around 5 months ago for a foreign parcel that took 6 working days to arrive (over Easter), but whilst I was irritated at the time a single neutral was hardly worth worrying about.
Likewise I have never left a non positive just for non arrival either, I have left at least one neg though where a seller tried to tell me i hadn't paid for recorded so it was tough luck, I also left a neutral for a buyer who forced me through a full paypal chargeback as they didn't want to refund. On those occasions I left a non positive for trying to get out of refunding, I never left it for item lost in the post.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
