sold something that finished 10pm last night, buyer later paid which I wasnt aware of until today.
Buyers has put a note on payment stating
'have paid immediately and expect immediate delivery as item needed for Thursday"
The postage listed on item is second class and will post within 3 business days.
I work full time and dont have time to go to p.o every day, i also new this would end on 31/8 and didnt fancy going to p.o at lunch on 1/9 (car tax day and 1st day after b.h) so intended to go to post office on way home on 2/9 as can leave early.
Ive replied to buyer stating, theyve paid for 2nd class std mail and that on payment details page of listing states 3 business days, which is likely to be Wednesday this week and Thursday at latest. If they would like to upgrade to next day delivery they are more than welcome too and it will be sent wednesday.
Will wait and see what they do, Im going to post recorded now anyway even they dont take special delivery.
Does immediate payment mean it should be sent immediately???

In a word - No! They can see quite easily when they pay & on the original listing how long it will take. If they needed it desperately then they should have gone to a shop & bought it!
I think you have done the right thing - If you are going to post tomorrow then the only way they are going to get it by Thursday is by 1st class. Just watch out what you charge for postage though, if you have inflated your P&P & then charge more I think you will have an unhappy buyer.0 -
I agree, the short answer is no. It is up to the buyer to see what despatch time and service the seller is offfering.
I am surprised though at how often buyers try this one.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The buyer should have contacted you before the end of the auction to see if your be able to send it straight away. They should have also offered to pay more postage so it could be sent special delivery. I would have just pointed out to them if they needed it that bad they should have got in touch before hand to see if you could help.0

absolutely not, if you stated 3 days for dispatch and that you would send by second class post the buyer has no right to demand delivery by Thursday and is being a tad unreasonable.
it appears more and more buyers are making this demand, i send my items next day by special delivery so can't get much quicker unless i posted the items same day but i get a few buyers feeling the need to send a message demanding the item by a certain day and i recently got a neg for posting the item 48 hours after payment which meant the total time for delivery was 3 days and the neg said slow delivery.....ebay buyers want miracles these days and are just very demanding.
The buyer probably hasn't read your listing as apparently according to reports i'm reading on this forum particularly, there is no need for buyers to read listings and the ramblings of the seller within “mean nowt” and it's a great inconvenience to them, never the less you stated the delivery times so just redirect the buyer to the listing and explain you will deliver as soon as possible and within the time stated in the listing as agreed.0 -
wait the full 3 days and then post itmortui non mordent0

The only problem being the ebay feedback rules.
As a seller I post every day and advertise postage within 24 hours. However if a buyer needs something fast all they need do is contact me and if it is possible I will make the effort to get it to them.
In my view buyer should not have bough until they had spoken to you.
Having said all that as a seller it is only courteous to post in a timely manner and if I read your description and it said posted in 3 days I would probably have looked elswhere.0 -

I think 3 days is pretty fast. I mean businesses that have daily postage collections don't always manage to get it out that fast.0 -

I read it that the buyer paid immediately of their own accord, not because the listing demanded it.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
