does immediate payment = immediate dispatch!

I'd also be expecting them to be demanding immediate feedback as well...
Given that it is now mandatory to include a dispatch time in all listings which is shown to winning bidders when they pay, I think the customer needs to be remindedthe difference between what they want, and what they can get.
I'd offer a full refund to them on the grounds that you do not want to disappoint them with a late delivery, and would understand if they wished to take their custom to somebody who can meet their expectations.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
I always aim to ship within 24hrs but I do have a PO on my doorstep at home and one up the road from work so it's easier for me.
If it's going to be longer than 36hrs I always email them to let them know and apologise.Terms & Conditions Apply0 -
postage is correct for 2nd class packet plus 15p for packaging materials.
3 days, looking at other listings is about the normal time, im not a business seller, im a private seller who works 8 till 5.00 - 5 days a week and can only really get to the post office in lunch times but on the odd occasion can leave work early. The only post office in the town i work is the crown thats all ways busy and the average time in the que is about 30-45 mins, its that busy all the time, so i usually try to get away from work a bit earlier two nights a week to post from my local village p.o or post when im out and about for work.
ive bought from sellers who cearly state I post on saturdays or wednesday only etc, it doesnt put me off as a buyer adn a seller i understand people have lives off ebay and cant aways get to a post office, the seller gets 7 days to post for paypal protection anyway.
I wouldnt pay for something and then expect it to be sent the next day etc if the seller had dispatches within a certain time and i dont usually chase an item until 7 days after payment.
When i buy from stores unless i choose next day delivery (which of course will only arrive next day if you pay via 3pm) then it normally takes them a good couple of days to dispatch.
The buyer paid immediately after the auction ended (well about an hour later). it wasnt buy it now with immediate payment.0 -
It is a tricky subject.
As a buyer I like my goodies to arrive ASAP so I assume my buyers are the same so I ship ASAP myself.
As I've said though, it's easy for me as I have a sub 200m away from my front door and a sub 1/2 a mile away from work, which I go past at 4.30pm each working day.Terms & Conditions Apply0 -
I guess it's in the wording. If the buyer had said 'Hi, I have paid very quickly as I'm hoping you might be able to get the item to me by Thursday', you'd probably have thought 'I'll do my best'. But the tone of their message would have immediately put my back up.No, Mr A, that is NOT 'Great news'!!

Wombling totals: Oct = £243.32 - £93.32 over target!
Nov Wombling Tally: £27.36 so far... behind target

Just had my stars seriously marked down thanks to a buyer who didnt read my listing! (Have posted about this buyer on here before).
Sold some spare tickets which I stated I didnt have yet (supplier hadnt send them out), but I expected to have them within a week. The listing ended on Monday 24th August late at night. I was very happy when the tickets turned up on Friday 28th and got them in the post that day. Also paid extra for Saturday guarentee so they would get there on saturday instead of tuesday (after the bank holiday).
I was worried about the guy as hed already commented he needed them for the weekend as it was for a present. Well looks like hes marked me right down as my stars have suddenly taken a hit! He has left feedback but it says 'item arrived as described' which isnt exactly great.
Delivered them within 5 days which I thought was great seeing as I said I wasnt expecting them!!
Grrrrr.
OP, Id hold your guns and send it tomorrow. Its their own fault for not bothering to read!Green and White Barmy Army!0 -
I paid immediately after an auction that ended last Tues and am yet to receive my item. I agree that immediate payment doesn't equal immediate delivery but a 'timely manner' is much appreciated.
I think you did the right thing, OP. Stick to your guns.0 -

My local sorting office had a two day strike the other week, i posted the day before the strike and was worried my stuff would all get caught up in and kept at the sorting office for a few days but luckily it didnt

I bought something on ebay.com the other week in the USA. Paid same day, got an email from seller a couple days later to say item dispatched, exactly two weeks after paying ive had an email along the lines of, sorry but your item was sent to me from my warehouse and not you as i requested, i was then away for 10 days as i had a family illness that lead to a death etc! well i had a look at there store and things are still listed which of course they would be as its a store and hes hada couple of feedback since i paid but not left any, so ive given him the benefit of the doubt and goin to leave it for another week or soo, see what turns up. Bit annoyed as i was hoping it would arrive this week but never mind.0 -
You do have to make the effort to provide a timely service to any buyer that's true but your not a business seller and so i think 3 days is fine, i wouldn't complain personally.
it's clear this is one of ebay's monsters, by that i mean the well documented imbalance between buyer and seller created by ebay has given rise to a special kind of buyer who feels reading listings is optional and sellers work on their terms and once money changes hands you will do as they say.
as sellers we can all identify with that oh oh, feeling you get when one of these awkward customers buys from you, hopefully they will be reasonable but even if you go out of your way to post today by first class i have a feeling you'll still get low dsr ratings or poor feedback......have you checked their feedback left for others? might worth a look in this case.0 -
The rudeness of ebayers never ceases to surprise me; emails with no "please" or "thank you". Unpleasant really.
Personally, I sell professionally so I go to the PO 6 days a week. I ship out within 24 hours of payment being received. You would expect then, that I have "5 stars" for dispatch time? Hell no! I get marked down for that by some buyers. What do they expect? Should I get into the car and nip round with it personally? There's just no pleasing some ebayers.0
