If it was outside your home have you upset anyone in the locality?.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

Well i don't think so as the rest of the street has suffered the same fate! Is it worth reporting to the police?

Well i reported it and they said there was nothing they could do! I had a quote to get it fixed today and its gonna cost £1300.

Well i'm dead impressed now. I even offered kids some money to put the feelers out, to find out who did it!

    Have you tried these people:

    http://www.chipsaway.co.uk/repair/local-operator.asp ?

I have never used them but apparantly they only paint the chips (I know its not a chip its a scratch but it must be similar) nd not the whole car, so they may be cheaper?

Sorry to hear about your car :(

They are cheaper and do a reasonably good job, but not as good as a bodyshop respray. Depends how old/cherished the car is and/or if you're doing it through insurance.

My experience was poor, but may not be representative. Had them come back 3 times to put it right and I still wasn't completely happy. As it was a friend of a friend, I agreed to leave it there. To his credit, he made no attempt to charge me for the extra work. I should also say I'm VERY picky, as my other car appears at a number of specialist car shows. I suspect a lot of people wouldn't even spot what was wrong until I pointed it out.

I've actually phone chips away today, apparently though as my car is metallic silver its harder to do? Don't know how much cheaper though as the only panel they haven't scratched is the roof!

This would of been our 5th year no claims as well so entitiling us to maximum discount and we've just turned 25 so it would of cost us about £150 this year to renew. Now its gonna cost £700 to renew as we'll have zero no claims discount!!!

Plus the cost of the excess which is £300 so much to bloody money saving!!!

Do you have protected no claims? Worth double checking your policy docs just in case.

If not, it might be better in the long run to take it on the chin and not claim, as it'll cost you more for renewals over the next few years until you build your NCD back up. Oh, and don't forget to get protected no claims next time! (sorry if that sounds patronising, but I think it is worth paying a bit extra for)

Even if your no claim bonus is unprotected, it is unlikely you will go back to zero. It usually only drops back a year or so, and depending on the company may be only something like 65% down to 60%.

Well we were going to protect it, but a friend had his protected and it didn't seem to make much difference the following year. He still payed loads more!

I didn't know about it not going back to zero though, fingers crossed eh?

£1300 is allot of money to find at the moment though, to be honest we'll have to probably claim. I have since found out that they've done 5 street fulls of cars. The local body shops are gonna be well impressed, not so sure about the insurance companies though!!
