£1300 sounds alot! I am going to the body shops this weekend and from what I have seen it will hopefully be around £200.

I have since found out that they've done 5 street fulls of cars. The local body shops are gonna be well impressed

A friend told me of a similar thing a while back. Turned out the local garage had paid the local gangs of youths to drum up more business for them.

  • I don't think thagt would happen round here? I live in a sleepy city called Hereford and nothing happens round here. What are you having done for £200 felix?

Mine is going to be a full respray near enough!

£1300 isn't too bad for a full respray (not knowing the size or colour of the car) if the quality is up to scratch. I've seen £600 spray jobs and I'm amazed the bodyshop didn't die of embarrasement handing over a car in that state.

Anything would be better than nothing! Chips away can't do anything and have recommended a full respray. So i'm full respray hunting tomorrow!

I went to a few other bodyshops today, one said £600 and the other was £700. Seems to me that either the first quote at £1300 was trying to rip me off, or it was because my wife went to see him? I've never thought about people ripping women off?

Sounds bad but what's to say it wont happen again if you get repainted?

Personally if they local yoof are into this kind of activity this week I'd leave it for a month or two before getting painted by which time they'll have a new interest to keep them occupied. Also lets not forget half term next week so they'll be bored...
  • You see i have no kids so wouldn't of thought about them being off again! We keep the car in the garage, were saving up to get it done. The bodyshop said though that if we part exchanged the car it probably wouldn't be worth much less if left alone and not painted!

There are others that can do repairs of this nature have a look here for some more info. Some use different techniques to others and may be able to offer something more competitive than the full respray option.

Nothing lost getting a quote. Good luck.
