I have very happy memories from my childhood and we were very poor and whilst we always looked forward to Christmas and Birthday as this was generally when we got new clothes I do remember hating the fact that all my friends had nice clothes, went shopping with their mums and I NEVER did apart to get school uniform (and that was generally with shopping vouchers). I don't think its so much of an issue when kids are small but as they get older its the other kids that are cruel and will tease. Im sure its down to the fact that all these children are given everything that they want and therefore expect all other children to get it aswell.
I do desperately try hard to give Bea things that she NEEDS and dress her nicely, but as long as she is clean, clothes are ironed and hair brushed that is good enough. Equally I don't want her to constantly get things because Birthdays and Christmas's become events where there is nothing to look forward to.

Happy medium and time spent doing fun things is more important

I think i feel that I have to make up for the fact that the only birthday/Christmas presents my kids ever get are from me and DH. I have no family and DH's dont have contact with any of us.

I also feel guilty that I still havent taken DD to Primark. When we were in Leeds, I promised I'd take her in the holidays, but just havent had the money. To be fair, she has plenty of stuff passed on from my friends girls, it's DS that has nothing to wear, so it's more the fact that I've broken my promise :o

Snags, that just reinforces the fact that you did the right thing ehh hun

I didn't use the spade in the end Sal, went for a good, old-fashioned shot-gun. :)

Thanks for the kind words everyone, they are very much appreciated today.

Dealing with Ryan is just getting harder and harder, and things like this really don't help. Think I really am going to have to consider the medication route, just not sure if it will be for him, or me! :rotfl:

  • Snaggs, I wish I had lots of nice words to make you feel better but all I can think is that stupid stupid "man" is a complete !!!!ing !!!!!! and is making it so hard on EVERYONE. He is just so utterly selfish and weak and needs a good kicking.

    !!!!!!!.

I hope you are feeling better, I do truly admire you.
