Here are my packing instructions....

I got this in an email from my customer

Please wrap with plenty of easy-to-remove taped Bubble Wrap in one strong, appropriately sized box. Please do not double box or use extra cardboard, shredded paper, or chunks of foam (the styrofoam packing peanuts are fine).

Well, that's me told then.........

Don't you just feel tempted to email back with your own instructions as follows:

" please only open this parcel on a weekday, should it arrive on a Saturday please ensure that you store it until Monday in a clean light room with plenty of ventilation. When opening please only use a knife that has a red handle, any other colour handle should be avoided at all costs. All bubble wrap should be retained and weighed correctly to ensure no loss of air occured in transit"

How on earth would you manage if you didn't have people around to tell you how to do it? :p

It sounds like they're just trying to 'do their bit' by asking you not to use excessive packaging.

    Lol at soolin.

It was a very pretty cup and saucer that's around 80 years old, it sold for £62 and she's in the USA.

The thing is all I ever sell is china and other breakables if she'd looked at my 4000+ 100% feedback she see that good packing gets mentioned in nearly every comment, it's not as if I usually sell car exhausts or bags of nails! She has private feedback too....I'll be so glad when she gets this parcel

Why on earth would she object to extra cardboard or chunks of foam? I would have thought that given the nature of the item, she'd have been pleased with any extra protective padding.

I'd use a whole roll of tape just to be awkward!! And enough bubble wrap to float it to the USA! Cheek! Some people really do think that sellers on ebay are stupid.....The real kicker is it's an american (the country that re-elected George dubya) treating you as an idiot!

I agree, and most people woudl think that double boxing was extra tough stuff around the breakable stuff - she must have had some bad experiences with china.

Another bit of worrysome detail......I sent the invoice with the shipping entered as International Signed for - she asked why I'd upgraded from the airmail quote that was in the auction (I didn't expect it to sell so well when I put the shipping price in the listing) I explained the insurance part of the ISF and she came back with -

I'll also take the less expensive shipping because I really don't think the mailing insurance would actually reimburse either of us in the event of loss or damage. However, if you know, for sure, that the insurance works, I will take the more expensive shipping -

I told her that I use the ISF service often but I've never had cause to claim so I couldn't say first hand how the claim would go, I gave her the RM website and invited her to have a look at it.

She's now come back with -

Since we don't know how the sign in service works, let's just use the regular one.

This is worrying. I'll pay for the extra for ISF myself because I think that there could be problems with this one...

If she's cheeky enough to send packing instructions, then she's likely to do a chargeback isn't she..?
