    Sorry to hear :(

Having been through it, I still get the 'seeing out the corner of my eye' and another of the cats looking like it's her at a certain angle.

I think we'll always want a few more years. If we had them from our birth to our 100th birthday, it would still never be enough.

At least we can say they had a great life. A life they may never have had if it wasn't for us.

    My condolences.

Do come over to Purrs, it's great!

I think I may do. If my cat gets through the weekend, i'll be surprised. She is showing the same behaviour as my cat that died in April, so I think the time is nigh.

I'll need some kind of way of letting things out, as my flatmate (50% share of the cats) handles it differently to me, by getting further into the things I enjoy. I don't mind that as as such, it's just the fact she is in my face with things I find uninteresting and at a time I don't want to enjoy myself. I may be unable to talk to folk about the people I have lost (there maybe a forum somewhere for that too) but at least if I can just share my little cat with the world for 15 minutes, then it may help.

Thank you everyone for your comments and support.

Last night she became more clingy and was playing some more, but something wasn't quite right, she didn't want to get up and walk. I laid on the sofa and she cuddled in with me and then she started breathing very heavily this morning and had a fit, which apparently she wouldn't have felt.

After the fit she was still breathing but not responding to much, only to me holding her paw and speaking to her with her ears flickering.

We knew her time had come and we took her to the vets, who agreed it was time to do the honorable thing and out her to sleep.

I'm in floods of tears as I write this, but I like to think she has gone with my other baby who we lost in April and I hope is fully fit and able again wherever they are.

She was the most laid back cat, or even living creature ever. She took her blindness so bravely, she never complained and always knew she was loved.

I'm going to miss her so much, just like her sister.

    Thanks for reading.

I've just had contact from the service we use for the private cremation and they can see us this afternoon.

I'm pleased this can all be done so soon, so she can be home here as ashes with us.

    Thank you.

Didn't sleep last night as was up with her, and i'm glad I was as I wouldn't have been there for her if I had gone to bed. I just knew :(

I've had 2 hours sleep since we got back from the cremation, but can't get anymore. Work up in a panic. I live in a very small place, yet it feels so empty, even with 3 cats and a flatmate.

It's going to take a while. I've not got fully over April, and now this. I so want to get some more cats when these 3 pass on, but don't know if i'm strong enough :o

Miroslav, I'm so sorry, but so pleased it was quick & you were with him. It was like that with Ted.
We too had a private cremation & service & I felt like we "had done right" by him.
Trust me you remember the good times more than you remember the loss - in time.

I just hope I did all that I could :(

She had a fit and was, I assume, struggling for breath - she had her mouth open and was panting like a dog after its run around, but by the time she got to the vet, she was barely responsive.

I'm always blaming myself as I find it easier and flatmate has already told me off, but I wish I could have done more, it was horrible to see, but I couldn't leave her side :o
  • Miroslav... I have followed this post closely and have cried along the way...even more now at your sad news. To be with her all the way, and so close to her at the end is a marvellous thing. No cat could ask for more. Each day I have with my 4 geriatrics is a blessing and although I live in dread of the end, I know I do all I can to make every day of their lives happy.
Each cat we share our lives with trains us for the next! I know you won't be ready for some time to let another cat into your life and your heart...but it will happen. x
