i'm a mixture of both. sometimes i cant be bothered to wait for delivery and sometimes the price difference isnt that much. the blu rays that were in the offer are normally around £20 in store. they put them up and then made them buy one get one free. basically it was a con to try and get people to buy 2 blu rays instead of 1. the offer wasnt online and was only in certain stores as i have been in other hmv's recently and not all of them had the offer. i find it impossible to find a blu ray i want for less than £10. they are mostly around £15 to £20. dances with wolves comes out in october. it is £12 online. i will probably get it for my dad for xmas.instore maybe but i only buy instore for rare one off price drops
online all the way.
only BR i have bought for over £10 was the band of brothers boxset @£250 -

What does "blu ray" stand for ? Where did the name come from ?The name Blu-ray Disc derives from the blue-violet laser used to read the disc. While a standard DVD uses a 650 nanometre red laser, Blu-ray uses a shorter wavelength, a 405 nm blue-violet laser, and allows for almost six times more data storage than a DVD.

im a typical Scot
i have to check the prices online and ensure its the best.
plus i have to check the reviews to see if its worthy of the bluray premium over DVD0 -

i must have scottish blood coz i often shop around. sometimes i cant be bothered to though. i have been put off from buying older films on blu ray after reading reviews. i saw a review of total recall saying it was no better than the dvd. i bought terminator 2 a few months ago only for them to release a better version a few weeks later. i think i should be able to take it back and get the new version and just pay the difference.0 -
if you're interested in watching usa blurays it might be worth checking this site out > http://bluray.liesinc.net/
it shows which ones are regionlocked, i check there before buying all my imported blurays.
another good site to see if somthing is released on blu is http://www.blu-ray.com/ (a bit obvious i know) this saves checking amazon.co.uk/.com/.fr/.de since they are all listed on there.0 -
I get my movies via Lovefilm."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

If you want to choose a blu ray player I would have a look at somewhere like avforums, and ideally get a decent demo so you can make your own mind up, not all magazine reviews are quite as independent as you might think
Any blu ray player should give you at least a decent picture with Blu ray discs though, you may find more of a difference with the sound quality and particularly with the picture quality from DVDs.
Whether its worth buying a more expensive player probably depends on what you're watching it on and what you're listening to it through0
