Ok so here is an update, I have bit the bullet and gone for a CashPlus card with CreditBuilder, initially I wanted to avoid this as it involves paying for credit rating but it seems one of my only choices.
I have a couple of questions though:
1) Will the monthly fee be taken from my account as a direct debit? I ask as during the application process they took my bank details for the initial payment of around £15 but there was no mention of Direct Debit, obviously I want to ensure I don’t miss a single payment.
2) I saw that there is an option to pay back the loan early rather than waiting 12 months. If I pay back in full after 6 months will this still be added to my credit report as a fully repaid loan, the same as it would if it was paid off over 12 months?
Thanks0 -
Must has a really bad rating then, about the first that I hear has been declined.
It does happen a bit mate, I have a JD Account that started with £125 like most, then when you log off and in again the limit may change (cos they do a search and the page will update at re log-in) so your initial limit may be the same, higher, lower or completely gone.
If the latter, they have credit checked you and decided no. Otherwise they are reasonably easy.
I got the JD with £125 and then logged in again and my limit went down to £100. It now stands at £700 (£100 increase each month)....
I got declined jacamo - well, it gave the standard £125 and after logging back in the limit had gone and all was left was option to pay using card. Credit Account had vanished.
Thats as an existing customer with 6 months payment history with my JD account.....

Well i've placed an order with JD Williams and it's been accepted and queued for delivery - no sign of them rejecting or cancelling it yet.
I'm still a bit surprised since I get rejected for absolutely everything.
I even got rejected for an Aqua card earlier in the year and they're apparently designed for people with crappy credit ratings.0 -
I got rejected for Aqua and Vanquis. However my bank accepted with no issues at £1500.
I would try them first, even if you have no 'credit history' your bank surely has a couple of years worth of bank statements showing money going in and out.0 -
been down that road with the bank already - only allowed a basic account.0
