I hate the job, I don't want to go back but we really need to money. To be able to afford the house and everything else we will have to live on a really rigid budget while I am off sick. I am being paid some money today which is a full month's wage that they have owed me for a while so that will cushion the effect for a bit. I then need to input a timesheet for a few full paying days and send off my sick notes - so next pay day will be more than just SSP which is good.
I can't make up my mind whether to go back or not - at least £80 a week is better than nothing while on SSP and better than JSA and also means it is not a decision I need to make yet. If I resigned - I wouldn't necessarily get JSA - I might get "sanctioned" so it is in my interest to maintain the status quo for a bit.
I looked at getting an automatic hire car but at about £270 a week plus fuel it is just not doable. It is possible I could swap cars with other family members for a few weeks which could help but not sure I want that responsibility or worry about their car or mine. So short of living away for half the week with relatives not much I can do to enable a swift return. I think the job has also been detrimental to my mental health so need to think carefully before returning - and want to make sure I don't sabotage any return by still being in significant pain and discomfort....
I have also finally applied for tax credits which should start to help out and we will get a lump sum of backpay in April which will help too.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

My run was great yesterday CAFC and CMD - thanks for asking. Though it hurts a bit when everything wobbles on the treadmill.
I'm slim but really need to tone up.
Sorry to hear about your knee and related problems SH. But it's great that you've got the family on board.0 -

It is still within the guideline the doctor originally gave me though which was 4-12 weeks although he did say it could be more. It has been about 6 weeks so far... of which I have been off sick about 2.5 although it feels like forever!

Lots of decisions to be made but I wouldn't feel guilty if the doctor is happy to sign you off. You slipped in the workplace so it is their own fault. Your DS sounds like a lovely sensitive boyTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

aww SH hun, job sounds horrid...
All I can tell you is what everyone told me about my job. It was sucking the life out of me, and I wasnt enjoying it anymore.....
If you're off sick at the moment, would you not go onto incapacity benefit if you left, and the gp was still signing you off?Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Hello all - hugs for all that need them and it sounds like a few of you do
Now as I am not a naturally mushy person, does anyone need a kick up the bum while I am at it??
Beacuse i am STILL paying off my holidays that I booked but haven't been on yet (will I never learn) there hasn't been a huge amount of debt action and I hevan't really been feeling that motivated to post, but I do clear one loan in a month - woo hoo and should also clear the holidays then too - double woo hoo. THEN I can get back on with the busting of the proper debt with OH at the top of the 'to pay' list. He should get his in April.
That said, i do have some accomodation etc to book still on the March holiday so it could all go royally down the toilet yet...£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

Hi PAID! Nice to have you back.
Holidays would definitely be a weakness of mine as well, if I had any money to go on them.... I really can't afford more than one a year, and not really that either. Extra money always have to be found from somewhere...
Really want the flat sorted so can concentrate on finding another job!DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0
