Hi all. Sorry I havent been on much, I just can't get motivated to sit at my laptop at all well, not until gone 2pm anyway:rolleyes: I ventured out yesterday, braving blizzards but have only been as far as my letterbox downstairs and boy is it freezing:eek: Will need to go out tomorrow though as I have to go to the chemist to pick up the remainder of my prescription (it will be ready after 4.30pm today and there is no way that I am going out at that time).
I can remember the primary school being closed once - must have been in 1967/68, only one teacher could make it in and she lived next door (mrs Ryecoff - horrid woman), that was the year that my dad rode his bike through a snow tunnel down the lane to get to work at Austin and the same year that we had to use next doors sledge to collect the milk from the bottom of the lane. As for schools closing for no heating, we never had that, we had to sit there in our coats.0 -

Evening all. I ventured out to the supermarket today and found the main roads quite navigable but of course the side roads not so. Managed to reverse up onto my drive on only the second attempt, so quite chuffed at that, bearing in mind the snow is a foot deep down our road. Son has told me his school never closes, obviously they are made of harder stuff there! The only way he would get a day off is if the bus didn't turn up, and so far they've kept to their schedules. Now we just want the bin men to creep out of hibernation. One life - your life - live it!0

Think you could have stopped after the first half of that sentence, Numpty....As for schools closing for no heating, we never had that, we had to sit there in our coats.
Been there as well, Horace, we sat in class one year in coats, hats and scarves...
Hi all,
Glad you're all OK, another freezing night ahead and more snow tomorrow and Saturday - great, can hardly wait!!The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time

Time for another one of these as it's another cold night and trolls come out from under their bridges to get out of the cold.Hi everybody.
Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.
What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.
If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.
what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?
firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.
The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!
It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis
PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.
Kind wishes
PThe time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time
