    Morning All

Hi MF :hello: I saw some good snow photos on the local news yesterday and thought of you - hope you are well.

A 'my word the road has been gritted' bump from me. Despite council cutbacks and no longer being on a gritting route they have obviously had so many people complain about not being able to get up the hill that they've actually come out and gritted :j (mind you it was quite entertaining to watch from indoors - especially the rear wheel drive car that tried to reverse up the hill ).

Well I have been to the docs and can't go back to work til after christmas. Hope I'm not going to feel this carpy on christmas day :(

    Bye for now.

And a 'good morning' bump from me. :santa2: :santa2: :santa2:

It is bitterly cold, but quite sunny, down here in the wilds of Wiltshire. If I had not had to 'trundle' over the last three days, I would describe the weather as 'Seasonal Post Card' weather - ideal for Christmas.
However, as all those who have had to drive will testify, it has been an absolute nightmare.
The Snow has fallen, and settled, on top of ice, giving treacherous driving conditions for everybody - not just the ill equipped ASDA Home Delivery Vans. One of our drivers was stuck in a ditch for two hours on Sunday evening - she was pulled out thanks to a helpful local farmer but could not complete her round.
Only the main roads, and not all of those, have been treated - on Sunday evening, I saw no evidence at all of the gritters and was out delivering till after 10.30.
Our local Council, or whoever is in charge of maintaining the roads, should hang their heads in shame.

Still - that's me finished (barring phone calls) till Sunday, so I'm off to do a bit of Christmas Shopping myself.

Have a great day everyone.

Glad to hear you have 'broken up' for christmas Rog, no joke at all to be driving a van in this weather, especially only to be greeted by miserable moany customers complaining that its late.

When I was in Iceland all the cars had special studded tyres on that cut through the snow and ice and gave a really good grip. They were great. I think at least the emergency vehicles, buses etc should have them on (as well as Asda vans of course).

Next time I think I'm definitely going for a 4wheel drive car (sadly that won't be for a while as i still have a loan for current car:rolleyes:)

It is colder here today - my little gadget reliably tells me its still -0.06^ outside at nearly midday and it was -3.2 when I got up to go to docs.

I used them when I lived in Switzerland, too, Tixy - absolutely brilliant. :T

Incredible as it may seem, they are actually illegal in the UK.
