Had a row with the mystery shopping company I work with today - I received an email about mystery shops at S and the email asked that I phone so I did and left a message on the voicemail - no call back so I rang and was told that there weren't any left and was told that I didnt leave a message:mad: I gave the person the precise time and detail of my message and offered to send her a scan of my mobile phone so that she could see when I called and how long I was on the phone for:rolleyes: I was so miffed that I made a complaint and got an apology and was told that a job had become free - so I shall be spending a min of £25 (handy it can be returned after crimble as I know I won't like it:rotfl:) to get £10 in return.

Washing machine repair man rang me to say that he had discovered what the little lights meant - my washing machine had overfilled itself.

Horace - you are a bit like me in that gadgets gang up on you. Scary how we rely on basic things like fridges. washing machines - they go wrong and suddenly you are as it says in your signature. I often wonder what would happen if we had power cuts for long periods of time - we rely so much on electricity and computers for everyday needs. Perhaps we all ought to do a survival course - roast a rabbit over a candle, dig your own latrines etc

Solvent - my cat came to us with some bits missing so no chance of any little surprises!

    Have a good evening all.

Hello fellow bumpers :santa2::santa2: - a couple of Xmas waves for Tixy, it'll all be over soon, don't worry, grit your teeth and get through the next couple of weeks and it will all be gone.

Nargle - glad cat is sorted out (as it were), could do without any small surprises arriving.

Horace - you're jinxed at the moment, your luck has to turn next year, surely??

Hope everyone has a good evening, I'm off to enjoy a glass of wine, think I deserve it after my mammoth shopping trip this morning :rotfl::rotfl:

Just keep on bumping.......beware of trolls, but most of us are ok really.

Just saw a programme about the legend of Father Christmas. Apparently in parts of Scandinavia a friendly creature comes by on Christmas Eve, settles the animals for the night, leaves prezzies for the children and sorts out the trolls! Visions of Numpty and co in red Santa suits going troll-bashing......

Of course if you live in Holland then Father Christmas has already been..he arrives there on 5 December in the form of Sinta Klaas - he arrives by boat and is accompanied by schwarte piets - one will lead Sinta Klaas's white horse, two will dole out sweets for the children and one will dispense cough mixture. The children leave their clogs outside to be filled with sweets and they must also leave an onion and a carrot outside too (this eventually gets incorporated into the dinner).

That washing machine of mine will be the death of me..it has started squeaking again and I realised that the drum was rubbing against the rubber seal..now I have found that part of the seal has worn away:mad: Still the machine seemed to kind of behave itself and I managed to do some washing.

    Bah humbug.

I also like humbugs and there is a bag in my glovebox. Yule is great and you can stick a log on your bonfire Lula. I thought of you on Tuesday when I was in the countrywide store - I was looking at their books and spotted two that would suit you one was The Allottment Gardener - all about growing stuff and what to grow when and the other was The Allottment Cookbook - showing how to cook the stuff you have grown yourself. I love the countrywide store as farmers go there and they sell everything from beer, ciders, wines, biccies, preserves through to animal feed, sheep pens, hurdles, christmas deccies, maps, riding gear and walking gear and safety equipment.

I think I will get a chocolate yule log instead of hexmas cake this year.

Think this should be the bumpers' food column - chocolate cake a couple of nights ago, now it's humbugs - but I do like humbugs and I keep some in my car as well.

Not a great fan of Xmas myself, I have to say, just trying to get a bit more in the spirit. It's all way too commercialised and overblown. We went to Malta one year for Xmas, celebrations started on Xmas Eve and finished on Xmas Day - much better than the 3-month fest we have in the UK with cards and tat appearing in the shops in September. Right, off my soapbox now, sorry for the rant.

Countrywide stores are great Horace, all sorts of things to browse through.

Definitely going now - 'night all.
