I posted for some help, fingers crossed!

    Have seen your post.

Could you edit it to add your exact arrival departure dates?

Also possibly if you have a car and for how many people (I assume two, so only one room)

Thereuare will also look at Hotwire to see what's available.

    Good luck.

thanks for the tips - Dead Horse State Point,Canyonlands etc - here we come.

We are currently in Ventura. Spent yesterday in Santa Barbara. Today probably going to some vineyards near Buellton and Solvang. Tomorrow Ojai, then off to Vegas.

In Vegas on Monday for the week. Staying at the Flamingo. Roll on!!!

    Will keep you posted.

Best Western has free internet access but this keyboard is f@#$ed.

Don't forget, public libraries are internet heavens! Vegas is the one place I've yet to find a good free/ accessible internet connection. Going from Bryce ( factor in an additional day once you see how spectacular it is!) to Canyonlands is a fir drive and two possible routes. The quickest route is fairly boring, while the more direxct route, is slower but takes you through the Capitol Reef National Park. We took the quick toute so can't comment on the Capitol Reef, though I'm sure someone else her can advise on whether its worth it or not.

Just add my two penneth , went to vegas in 2002, only my opinion but i found it extremely cheesy and tired and it made blackpool look like an upmarket resort. I stayed in the stratosphere which i found was very dated. If you like golf theres some beautiful courses out there.

blackpool just bigger thats what people who have never gone say.
question can you do the following in blackpool

fly in a helicopter in the grand canyon

see a different top production stage show every night for a month

eat the best steak money can buy or at least the best you have ever had from countless highest quality restaurants and steakhouses

take a Gondola ride in a recreated Venice

go shopping till you drop from everything from Ultra expensive to absolute Bargain prices for top brands . i got a pair of sketchers brand new for £13

go to a diiferent nightclub everynight for two weeks that put ANY club in this country to shame.

see Sharks , Lions , Dolphins, White tigers all in the sunshine.

take your pick of the best pools money can buy to relax by( although the very best at Mandalay bay is for guests only)

eat in a top quality buffet for about £8 each ALL YOU CAN EAT!!!!

take your pick of a top quality rides and rollercoasters

take pony treks into the nearby canyons

get pampered in countless highest quality spas ect

get two for one drinks all day before 6pm in the bars

if it,s your thing vist countless strip/gentlemens/adult clubs ( not mine honest)

see free shows like the Bellagio water ballet Treasure Island pirate ship or the Mirage volcano.

    errrrr NO!!

what you can do in blackpool....

get your teeth knocked out by a druken chav stag or hen night.

pay a load of money to see a rascist sexist fat bloke and get insulted when you get up to walk out or go the toilet.

sit on a dirty beach in the P**S RAIN

pay £3 for a drink and pay over the odds for chips with batter bits . With cuury sauce from Neto

stay in one of the many top spec boarding houses bring your own sheets and mouse traps if your fickle

go to the top of a rusty tower

take your pick of tacky shops. whoopie cushions and fake chunky rings a plenty.

hook a duck and win Xmas cracker grade prize at the pleasure beach.

YEAH AVONDALE THEY COULD NOT BE MORE SIMILAR. i know where i,m going back too

you picked badly with strasosphere...it,s not the cheapest for nothing. if you want a top spec hotel cheaper only one choice THE RIO !!! otherwise the pecking order is

    1) Wynn
    2) Bellagio
    3) The Venetian, The HOTEL at mandalay bay.
    4) Mirage, New York New York, Mandalay Bay, Ceasars palace.
    5) treasure island ,MGM grand , Paris, Monte carlo,
    6) Rio
    ___________________________________________________

    7) luxor, alladin, palms
    8) Exacilbur, ballys ,harrahs
    9) stardust, statosphere. sahara.
    10) everything else icluding Circus Circus

below the line i would not stay in. believe me i went in them all and that extra outlay gets you a lot more bangs for your buck

Trets 77, it's all about opinions i'm afraid, and that is mine and it won't change, i've travelled all over the world and stayed at some beautiful places, i just found that Vegas wasn't for me, i just found it to artificial. The stratosphere was part of a deal unfortunately so had no choice. I have family in the states and love the country and have travelled extensivelythrough the USA but maybe we are just a minority but they don't like it either.
Unlike your personal attack that's not my style , i'm just giving my opinion and respect others too , but go about expressing myself in a different manner.

lol lighten up my gripe is with the blackpool thing it,s like saying the zoo is like going on safari cause there are the same animals too see.

i,ll be the first one to admit Vegas isn,t for everyone but i,m sick and tired of people telling me oh it just blackpool but bigger why would i want to go there. NO IT'S NOT !!!! im not trying to say your opinion isn,t valid but you offer no grounds for your claim .

there is more to Vegas than neon and slot machines sure they are there in abundance but There are so many other sides to the place. which i mentioned. i don,t disagree it,s artificial but it never pretends be anything but that. if you can deal with that there is great holiday to be had , and i think people should have all the facts not very vague analogies.
personally i think if you,ve got the money and not got the kids yet this is the place built for your needs and enjoyment

You learn something new every day.

Are there two Las Vegas's and two Blackpools ? I only ask because going to Las Vegas was great fun and that going to Blackpool is something grim that has to be endured.

or Avondale, are you the Mayor of Blackpool ??????

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and comments - much appreciated, but I'm not looking for the pro's and con's of going to Vegas just tips for saving money and things to do while I'm there!!!

There was early 'discussions' on the thread about the case for and against LA and while I did appreciate all the posted comments I think we should accept that different people have different tastes.

Back to the topic if we can please and hopefully once I'm back I can post my experiences of both places.
