thanks for eveyone whos offered their opinion on my MGM/Trop debate

i'm thinking of sticking with the trop as i really don't want to be spending half my holiday walking to and from my room!

Will check into prceline also to see if i could maybe do half the hol at the trop and half somewhere nearer the other end of the strip?

We're off to the Luxor in Sept - never been to Vegas before

Any obvious tips from previous visitors that newbies there might not be aware of?

I really enjoyed the Luxor and it's Inclinators !!

The only down side of the Luxor is that it is at the End of the Strip, so that if you take a wander to t'other end, it's a long way back (and it is a looooonnng way if it's hot), but taxis are plentiful.

I liked the Luxor and would happily stay there again.

& I'll reiterate fatboyonadiets advice about ploughing through the thread --- although I've gt a freebie tip that MAY not have been mentioned before. Get to the Bellagio for the water display about 5-10 minutes before it is due to start, that way you'll get a proper view.

Cheers, but thought it was 24 hours? I e-mailed customer services and they told me the same, think i'll leave it a day or 2 and then try, no big rush yet anyway. Already done my Vegas hotel.

    It IS 24 hrs
They changed the waiting period from 72 hours a while back, never has been 36hrs afaik.

    FAQ from Priceline.co.uk Help
If your Name Your Own Price ® request isn't accepted the first time, don't worry - we've made it easy for you to try again. It's all in the details! To protect their retail business and to keep this great savings service available to everybody, participating hotels only allow priceline customers to make one request for the same itinerary (same check-in and check-out dates, zone and hotel quality level) in any 24-hour period. After 24 hours you can come back and try the same request again.
But as you say if you're not in a rush then don't panic.

    I agree.

Priceline is not the best option in Vegas, it can get you some 5* bargains but quite often you can get some good deals elsewhere.

What dates in september are you looking at? Personally, if it was midweek, I'd be looking at the deals available at the Venetian. Also, for promo codes for all the hotels- check out fatwallet website. Venetian suites are far nicer than MGM suites and imho better than deluxe rooms at either the Bellagio or Caesars. (We need someone to comment on a stay at the Wynn - looks superb, on a walk through)

i'm staying there from the 11th and leave on the 21st and would love to stay at the venetian - just assummed it was too expensive

was thinking that I could do the 17th - 20th (sun - thurs) somewhere a bit nicer than the trop

will look for codes as cant seem to find any that go beyond the 7th of Sept, if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated!

Clashes with some of my dates, think a few other people on this thread are going then too, maybe we should arrange the next MSE meet in Vegas! Not sure how money saving it would be though, maybe we could hunt down bargains and gamble on 1 cent machines!!!
