    Just a quick question.
Does anyone know when we need to do the move. I think I will move to eons online tariff too. I'm presently on the capped one that ends Oct. Not sure if I need to put it in place now or the end of Sept.

    Hi jeanmd

If you are moving to another EON tariff it doesn't really matter when you switch. You can move now or at the end of September. Whichever is better for you. There are no cancellation charges when moving between our tariffs.

Changing tariff is quick and easy. If you give us a call the tariff will be changed whilst you are on the phone. Alternatively, you can switch yourself through our website. Either way the change will go through there and then.

However, if you decide to move to another supplier cancellation charges may apply depending on your current tariff.

I would also note space riders excellent advice and time the move to limit the impact of not receiving discount on the final bill.

If you have not already done so it might be an idea to pop your details on to one of the comparison sites to see how we do.

Hope this helps but give me a shout if you need more info. Always happy to help. :)

Malc: If I've requested to change from Eon to NPower through EnergyHelpline and want to cancel it, am I right in thinking that I can just cancel in the "cooling off" period and everything wil be fine?

    Hi wibbler

Yes, you can cancel a switch between suppliers during the cooling off period without affecting your original account.

If you decide to do this, I would put a call through to both suppliers to make sure all parties are aware of your change of mind.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Malc,
Thanks for the advice. I'm happy to stick with e.on as I love their customer services and free phone numbers plus my bill are cheap anyway. I just didn't like the charges - though I'm not sure if they are new or not, I seem to remember there being a charge for the capped rate anyway.

Many thanks for your kind comments jeanmd. They are much appreciated. :T

Our capped rates always carry a premium at the start and then guarantee not to increase the unit prices before the end of the product. The price you are currently paying will depend on when you signed up to the tariff.

Some of the tariffs ending in October were launched over 18 months ago when prices were lower than now. Therefore, I can well understand the shock when receiving a letter with new prices which will be a lot higher than you have been paying.

Give me a shout if you need any more help/advice. :)

Hi Malc, I'm another EON customer coming to an end of the fixed rate in October.

Can you tell me how the fixed rate I'm currently on compares to the best deals EON currently has available? Is there a rate I can switch to that will cost me less than I pay at the moment, or not? I found the website very unhelpful in that I couldn't find a table comparing unit costs for the different tarriffs you offer - if I'm wrong on this, and there is one, I'd be grateful if you could give us the link.

    Thanks.

    Hi carolt

It depends on the actual tariff you are now on. I suspect you are either on one of the Price Protection tariffs or an Energy Saver product.

We have several versions of these coming to an end on 1 October 2009. Some have been running for over 18 months and if you are on one of these your unit prices will be significantly lower than our current standard prices.

You will receive a letter between now and 7 September offering you another capped product.

Like all our capped products the initial unit prices will be higher than the standard prices but with a guarantee they will not increase before 2011.

This is not our cheapest tariff and may not be for you if you are looking for lower prices now.

I'm sorry you couldn't find more info on our website. Are you registered with the website?

If you are, log into your account and select Switch Now. That will detail your current deal and show our other tariffs underneath so you can compare.

If not, pop your details in the Quote and Switch tool on the website. This also brings up a list of tariffs with prices listed under More Details.

Sorry carolt but MSE don't like us posting links directly to our website.

This is also a good time to have a look at the comparison websites. Put your details in and see how we do. Make sure you move on to the best deal for you.

Hope this helps but give me a shout if you need more info. Glad to help. :)

I am on Price Protection V15 ending at the end of the month, and have reveived a letter to tell me that I will be moved to Price Protection R3. I have looked at a couple of the comparison websites and some other suppliers are going to be cheaper for me. Could you please detail what the penalty for moving to another supplier would be for me please?

    Thanks,
    Paul

    I think there's no penalty.

I don't think that there is a set fee, but I normally receive a bill every 3 months. The last one I received was at the end of June. I think I read that if I leave that my list bill will be made up witout any discounts as way of a penalty. Does that mean that my usage of gas and electricity from June until the time of a switch would be charged at the standard rate (if so can somebody give me deatials of what these are?)

    Thanks,
    Paul
