Ryanair Charges On No-Shows?

Options
I paid £12 for a return flight on Ryanair, but now I need to change dates. I tried to do so, but it said they would charge me an extra £70 to change, meaning it would be cheaper to just miss that flight and book another. However, I'm worried if I fail to turn up for the first flight, they may charge my credit card. Does anyone know if this is the case, or has anyone missed a Ryanair flight before (most likely, judging by the queues at baggage drop off!). Thanks in advance!

No extra charges for no show.

Lots of people book up 1p flights etc and do not use them. It's a bit selfish but holiday home owners in Spain etc do it a lot.

Thanks, I've been stung many times by Ryanair's charges. (Ryanair? More like Ryunfair) It is a bit selfish to skip a flight, but I wouldn't do it unless I needed to, as I don't really think they should make me pay an extra £70.

Indeed, last time on the return flight, I was charged £50 excess baggage when I had less in my suitcase than I did on the outbound trip. That's why the fares are so cheap, they hit you with hidden surcharges once you've already given them your credit card details. Sneaky .

Why would they? They have your money for the flight (and any extras booked) already, so there's no need for them to punish you for no-showing.

Did your case weigh over 15kg? If so, you've got no-one to complain to but yourself. If the scale at the check-in desk was reading high, then you should have compared it with other scales - although I believe some airports (Spanish ones in particular!) are notorious for having badly calibrated scales.

Nothing to do with Ryanair, however.

And Ryanair don't hit anyone with 'hidden surcharges' - they're all listed on the website in black and white!

No charge for no shows. I book loads of 1p flights on routes I use a lot, just in case.
Costs me a few pence, saves me a fortune. Some people don't like me doing this but the answer is simple, they should get off their a**es stop watching the telly and sit up at midnight on the Ryanair site to book them instead of me, otherwise they shouldn't don't moan.

They don't have the right because it's not in their terms and conditions - however, there's nothing stopping them from doing so.

Personally, I'd be in favour of a 50GBP charge of anyone booking a promotional fare who then fails to turns up. Would certainly stop much of the I CAN'T GET PROMOTIONAL FARES IT'S A RIPOFF SCAM crowd.

What would stop them is if they actually make an effort to get them!
How is it that I get dozens each year yet these people bleat on that they don't exist. UK to South of France & Return (& visa versa) in June, July and September 09 all for £1 all in, Electron and Hand luggage (I don't like carrying 100's of Kilo's of c**p with me when I travel)
South of France - Cork-Dublin-Bristol-South of France all for £12 all in.
If Barclays were giving away £50 notes at midnight:rotfl:
it's no good complaining 2 weeks later at three in the afternoon that you didn't get any.
You have to be there and you'll get some!!!
  • Amen to that :)

That's fair enough, but at time of booking don't you get charged the taxes? And hoiw do you reclaim these?
