  • did the final shop before we go on holiday - got enough fruit to last the week and milk and bread in the freezer. 18 eggs to use up (smelly egg sarnies for me this week I think).
Spent £28.95, but that included 16 piece set of blue plastic knives, forks & spoons for 50p from Mr S, 8 plastic plates for £1 from Mr T - ideal for BBQ parties (of which do do quite a few - the last one was for 24 people and I was short on plates - so definately needed).
Total for September £87.26 - see you all in October

Well, after yesterdays NSD I have spent money today. *SIGH* But I knew this anyway.

I found I had visitors in my hair (head lice) so had to buy a nit comb which cost £1.99 but as this was a one-off, and absolutely had to be done I'm not including it.

    Other than that it was

    8pt milk - £1.96
    Toilet Rolls - £1.21
    Onions - £0.24
Conditioner - £0.79 (this was to get rid of said head lice...

Total spend : £4.20 so under a fiver which is what I wanted. :)
Total spend so far : £79.15

Back from Asda having spent £41 on three large bags of groceries. :T Of that £13 was dairy products as we'd run out of everything, £6 on eight pork rib chops and £3 on Smartprice tupperware. Went with a list and stuck to it, bought mainly fresh products as planned. Now at £48 for the Grocery Challenge, which means I need to hammer the vouchers in Tesco again in a fortnight! :p

  • Spent £60.92 in Lidls on frying oil, cereal, alcohol (went with hubby), ice cream, mayonnaise, orange juice, lemonade, sugar, tinned tuna, butter beans, 10kg of basmati rice (shouldn't need to buy any until after Christmas now), figs, plums, apple juice, Borlotti beans, Kitchen cleaner, mixed bean salad, Nesquick chocolate milkshake powder, sweets and dishwasher tablets.
Also spent £29.58 at Sainsbury's on bananas, curly fries, ice cream, pineapple, mango chutney, sweets (cheaper than the sweet shop), cabbage, Diet coke (my one true weakness), strawberries, carrots, peppers, parsnips, chillies, pears, almond flakes, mushrooms, sweetcorn, leek, grapes and cheese.
Also went to the butchers and spent £11.42 on chicken pieces and rib eye steak.
Finally went to the bakers and spent £1.50.

Also declaring £42.99 spent on cat food at Pets at Home.

This leaves a total of £348.95 for the month. I can't believe that I got through £200 in the last 2 days and I've still got the weekly shop to do later this week. I need to take this challenge more seriously.
  • i went to waitrose and it was fatal. bought a load of Ducy Toiletries as they are really lovely, organic and were reduced to clear at 3.45 each. also bought some meat, fruit and a magazine. spent £39 so will have to go light on my main shop this week

Went to Mr S and spent far more than intended - 77.92 instead of the 40 I'd planned. I calculated that if I'd stuck to my shopping list I would have spent 29.91  There's a lesson in there somewhere and one lesson is not to take ds and dp. Dp spent 7.32 on razor blades  here's me buying basics jelly for 6p and he's spending that amount on 5 razor blades  Also bought some of Mr S's own (very much reduced) small toys for small boys to go in ds's good behavior box. Still on target for the month but will have to be careful.
BTW Mr S's big bottles of double strength, no added sugar, 20% fruit juice squash are on offer at £1 a bottle

  • I too went to waitrose today (wanted margarita mix and cant find it anywhere else, plus recycled all the bottles)
So, armed with my list dd and I popped into L!dl first to see what w could get off the list first and then to waitrose after to get the rest - fab idea and only spent £52.01 total - which is a minor miracle for me as I can easily spend over £100 in waitrose and come out with loads of treats and enough for 1-2 meals!!
Had the butcher visit yesterday so should have enough in for the rest of the week now given my meal plan, hopefully anyway (plus I can have a nice margarita or 2 tonight!! even got some cadburys chocolate and some nice beer for DH.

Off to cook now and get some items ready to ebay tomorrow

I was going to go to Morrisons today as they have an offer on chicken breasts (4 for £4, but BOGOF) and apparently the shampoo I get is also on offer. I decided not to though as it's quite far away and would be a wasted journey if they didn't have stock (fairly new store, so don't seem to have a lot in there!) Instead i've asked my sister to get some for me if they have any in her local shop and i'll collect and pay her when I next see her.

I have come over to visit my dad and stepmum so popped into Lidl on the way instead as noticed they had broccoli on offer and thought that would be good to go with dinner.

I ended up getting 2 x broccoli at 29p each, a bag of potatoes at 59p, a bag of carrots at 29p and bought a cream/cheesecake they do which my dad loves. So a total of £4.35.

We went for a walk in the woods when I got here and collected a big tub of blackberries, my stepmum has also given me some cooking apples so I am going to make a pie tomorrow (and probably something else too) Not a bad exchange for a cake!

I shouldn't need much else during the week and have plenty in the freezer/cupboards, so shouldn't need to spend anymore for a couple of weeks except for milk etc.
