cw18 - I know what you mean about reorganising the Freezer, always seem to have space left and also good as you always find something you forgot was in there. Well done on meal planning up to October, I love reading your Posts as you always seem so organised and your always lucky at finding Whoopsies.;)
I think a lot of the luck with Whoopsies boils down to having (almost) all the time in the world to go hunting them. I don't have any young children to bath and bed (though I now have GDs round school again, since term started on Wednesday), nor have I had a job to get in the way of it since last November (though I want another one before next September, else I'm in financial doo-doo) -- and if my timing of tea (when we eat cooked, and which is always after GDs have gone home) around optimum Whoopsie hunt time gets complaints from DS, then I simply suggest I put the ingredients out and he gets it cooked for my return. Needless to say this sees him returning to his bedroom and computer post haste, and I don't get any more complaints for at least a couple of weeks :rolleyes2

Many thanks to all for the feedback on adding veg to the curry sauce :) I'm going to be chopping up a load of veg to make my thick veg soup later today, so will try and get some curry cooked up with some of the butternut squash while I'm at it and have some to hand (just need to hope DS doesn't wander into the kitchen while it's obvious what I'm up to ;) )

It is so very much cheaper to buy a bag of fruit from the baking aisle & put a handful into a little bag or plastic pot..just a suggestion of course.

I know... :o I will be doing it in future... but I think I acted before thinking about what I was doing. (They will last us well over a week though). :o

Definitely a hardcore veggie phobic then! :o
    :rotfl: most definitely
Jamie Oliver was successful in hiding veg in pasta sauce on the School Dinners programme, not sure if the same recipe is in one of his books? Do you have a library near by?
yes, so will try and see if they have any of his books (though DS is very suspicious of HM pasta sauce too!!!)
On a different tack, does your DS have much dairy, nuts and wholegrains or does he hate brown stuff too?
loads (need a cow!), no and no - which is why I've had 15 years of worrying about how little f&v he eats :o
You can get many of your vitamins and minerals from these sources. Maybe feed him baked beans more often as this is one to two portions of fruit and veg in half a tin? :T The Heinz hidden veg definitely claims to be two, and is sometimes available on the cheap from Home Bargains etc. If I buy very cheap beans I add a squirt of tomato puree/ ketchup.
Unfortunately I don't eat baked beans (other than cooked into one mince dish). I know my problem is purely a physcological (sp?) block, but it's one I've had for at least 36 years and can't get past even though I know the cause of it....... I've only been eating them in the mince dish for the last 15 years, and though I reckon the recipe could take more I can't without gagging. I won't even eat anything that's been in contact with them if they've been served up as a 'side dish'. We don't actually have many meals where they could be used as a side dish for him while I have 'normal' veg either  In fact, even cooking them as a side dish for others has been know to make me feel 'rather ill' (May have to take a look through my meal plan and see where I can offer them to him as an alternative though - just something I guess I don't think of due to my 'issues' with them!)

Spent £9.93 in Mr T today but after my NSD yesterday am still on target and have £7.00 odd to go towards tomorrows shop which is handy if I go over my £10 target per day.

Hope you all have a good one today and a great weekend

Hi all can i rejoin this challenge please? I've let things slip over the last 2months and need to get back on track. Now we used to spend around £150 a month for me, OH and ds2 but for this month only i want to increase that to £200 for sept please
One reason is because i've lost track of what we're spending at the mo and secondly because i'm suffering with morning or should that be all day sickness and most things i cant stomach but ready meals i can:confused:. Normally i hate the things but i know pregnancy can do strange things to you. I just hope it doesnt last too long coz they're soooo expensive.
Did my first shop of the month yesterday and spent just under £65, freezers are full to the brim and i'm making myself do some cooking this week, i think i could stomach making a lasagne,i hope so anyway.
Anyone got a recipie for freezer biscuits?
