  • I've seen veg disguised in mince by blitzing the veg in a blender first. Haven't tried it as daughter won't eat mince or pasta sauce.
Yesterday was my little girls first day at school and it was very emotional - so Economy Gastronomy went out of the window. Yesterday I bought:

    Butchers:
    Marinaded Chicken for one £2.63
BBQ Spare Ribs for one @2.97
    Boneless Breast for one £2.50
    Stuffed Chicken for one £2.88
    3 lamb shanks £8.49
    Pork steak for one £1.71
    Total £21.18

Then I went to Tesco Express and spent £9.93 on lemonade, strawberries, salad potatoes, Nectarines, red pepper and diet coke.

Then I went to the bakers and bought 2 gingerbread men, one cupcake and one muffin total £ 3.85

After picking my daughter up from school I went to the sweet shop and bought a bottle of diet coke and fruit shot for £1.84
Then on the way back from the park I went to Sainsbury's and spent £17.84 on huggies drynites, tena lady, cookies and wine.
So total grocery spend today: £54.64 leaving a balance of £495.36.

I can't believe I spent nearly £5 on biscuits and cake and another £5 on soft drink. Anybody else an emotional shopper and what do you do to curb your ways.
  • £6 yesterday on salad and pasta and some fresh fruit - we'd eaten everything and I was expecting to go out for dinner, so nothing was defrosted to eat! Bringing me up to 190 but only in week 1. Taking OH shopping tomorrow as I am away with work for 3 days - going to have to steer him away from the ready meals!!
Grocery Challenge: target 400: so far spent 247
    Credit Card [STRIKE]3231[/STRIKE] 3218
    Overdraft [STRIKE]1215[/STRIKE] 1122.27

    Hello

I lost the plot a bit last month as we went on holiday. Will have a rummage about for the receipts and see if I can update my annual total.

Bit of a different food challenge for me this month as I am away with work for a full week (2 next month:eek:) and although I get breakfast and dinner I will have to buy my own lunch (good staff canteen) and drinks. I will also need to provide meals for OH. I may need to resort to some ready meals for him along with a big batch of chilli!

Stocked up on a good deal of frozen veg in August but this won't help me when I am at the other end of the country. I will need to buy f&v when I am away and water. I am flying so limited to what I can take and also just found out I am preggers:D so want to ensure i am getting at least my 5 a day and plenty of water.

Now, where did I put those last few receipts????

ops sorry for double posting dunno what I pressed.... but it must have been wrong :)
  • Relieved to have come back from Mr S with only a £36.75 spend, after using my £4 voucher. Have done a meal plan for the week, and only bought what was needed. Unfortunately the flapjack and shortbread I made last night has mostly been eaten already! It was meant for the lunchboxes but we liked it too much...

  • yes that is the trouble with homebaking. it gets eaten too quickly. i plan to do some baking this weekend. made a lovely cappucino cake but only myself and oh like it. oh well.

just started work this week after a nice long holiday so hopefully i shouldn't get too tired but i think it is worth trying to be organised with food and being thrifty. this thread is really helpful.
  • Congratulations XSpender.
