    Sorry, correction:

'which usually amount to about £40.00 - £60.00 per ticket' NOT per ticket. That's overall for 2 tickets.

BTW. If anyone's up for a last minute steal. The extraordinary hotel deal is still available for 2 May - 9 May and Thomson is now selling the matching flight for 1.56 each way. With the tax etc flights are about 60 something return per person. 2 people can do it for about 80 something each for a week inc accom and half board.

Same flight and hotel late deal as a package is coming out at roughly 220.00+ per person!

    Ole!

We caught the bus in March this year. I also found the timetable and was a bit worried as there didn't seem to be a bus during the afternoon, but it was there waiting outside the terminal. It was 5.60 euros one way. Just pay when you get on. The assistant then comes down the bus asking if anyone wants return travel to the airport. It drops off and picks up right outside your hotel. Very convenient and easy.

As for Salou, we were only there for three days and it was a bit dead (lots of Spanish pensioners) so have no idea what it might be like later in the year.

Hotel was £5.00 per room per night and included half board. So 35.00 for the week for both of us.
Ebay is always good for holiday auctions out of season. I've had a self catering flight + accom' week for 2 for 56.00 + the 20.00 ticket on departure charge before. Well out of season though.

£5/room!! How do they make money? I presume that rate is for 3+?

Thanks as i did not know ebay sold hols

Nope. The cost is 2.50 per day each including half board.
When Tour operators block book sometimes they overestimate the uptake. It's better for large hotels to have people spending money in their bars, restaurants etc than empty beds. Food is preordered way in advance on contract so their buffet costs are much the same whether people are eating it or not.
Those rooms breaking even is better than making a loss.
I have a small British tour business and do something similar when I have to. Breaking even means we worked for nothing. However losing money means we go out of business. We've had to throw away 100s of picnic lunches which were cancelled before arrival for example. Still had to pay our suppliers though. I will if neccessary give free meals and paid entry to attractions etc if it will secure a group booking as it means they pay enough to cover the costs we are committed to.

I've checked our flight arrival time. As it's not Ryanair it looks like it doesn't work if the timetable is correct. That seems to be geared for Ryanair arrivals only.
It would mean hanging about at the airport for 2hrs 45mins until the next one.

Keeping my fingers crossed it runs at other times too. *sigh*

Didn't see this! Thanks. You give me hope!

the one good thing was the theme park portaventura as you can easy spend 4 days there.
LOL 2 days MAX for me and I flippin LOVE Theme Parks!! We were there last year, went in the theme park the first day all day, great rides but spread out over a vast expanse. Went there again the next day and it was horrible, the staff pushed us about, let all the Spanish kids push in, and they also started barging us, god knows why  So we sacked it off early and went in the water park for the day..........that was okay to start with, then we got completely bored. LOL wouldn't spend another day there :o
