Salou, Spain. Anyone been?

Have got a killer last minute cheapie deal leaving early hours Tuesday. I know there's a bus from the airport you can get as I read about it somewhere on a review site or section. Trouble is I can't find that site again!
Apparantly you can get a return ticket for this bus and it even stops outside the hotel we've booked. Masses cheaper than rip off taxi prices.
Does anyone have any information about it?

Any other tips on the resort, eats, drinks, good spanish tapas bars etc much appreciated too.
Living on Earth can be expensive, but it does include an annual free trip around the Sun.

We went last year and thought the place was awful, the town stinks and our hotel was full of Germans, the one good thing was the theme park portaventura as you can easy spend 4 days there.

The resort is not typically Spanish, more English & Irish. We struggled to find authentic Spanish food. Cambrils afew miles down the coast is a good bet for decent food.

Port Aventura is great, but if you can spare the time take a day trip to Barcelona.

Don't know about the bus as we pre- booked a taxi in advance (there were 6 of us) but I imagine there will be loads of information at the airport. Public transport is good and cheap so you won't have a problem.

We went for the kids, but to tell you the truth we would not go again

I went here last year stayed in la pineda (just outside salou) it was lovely with a gorgeous beach. We went into salou most nights. I really enjoyed it. Port aventura is a must it is a really good theme park and I don't even like big rides. For a more spanish feel I would recomend going to the port or cambrills for tapas. Don't be put off by bad reports im sure you will have a good holiday.

The bus stop is directly outside the main arrivals terminal.

The buses leave at 10:00, 12:45, 13:55 and 21:00 from Monday - Saturday.

Thanks all, particularly clur84 for the bus info. We'll search out the other places suggested too. Thanks.
I know it's going to be a typical 'Costas' scene but even such spots must have places where the locals eat and drink which is what we'll be looking for.
Frankly, for the piffling sum of £156.00 for 2 people in total for absolutely everything including flights, insurance and half board I think I can stand it..

LOL! I used to have a German boyfriend and still have the huge Union Jack beach towel I bought as a joke when we went on holidays together. It's worth getting up at dawn to stride down and plonk it on the best sunbed just to see everyones faces.

Sure. I do a lot of this as I work in the tourism industry.

I get flights from Thomson auctions. Plenty of people bid ( often too much) on the package deals but often the flights go at starting price. You have to factor in the various additional costs which usually amount to about £40.00 - £60.00 per ticket. So my 2 flights were £40.00 ( for 2 ticks) + 20.00 each ticket on departure charge. We paid for inflight meals too ( but no need) also didn't go for the extra payment to reserve seats to sit together ( 2 hour flight. Why bother?)
Did own insurance which was half the offered deal. About £8.50 each.

Hotel was £5.00 per room per night and included half board. So 35.00 for the week for both of us.
Ebay is always good for holiday auctions out of season. I've had a self catering flight + accom' week for 2 for 56.00 + the 20.00 ticket on departure charge before. Well out of season though.
