Crisis Loan

You can only get a crisi loan is you literally have no money, no food, gas or elec etc.
They wont help getting uniforms.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -
Good advice given so far, regarding CAB (or any other non-fee taking agency) and the debts. Pay the priority stuff but in the meantime if it is food or uniforms or non-priority debts, then it has to be the first two! Can you join your local freecycle ? You might get uniform stuff (second hand of course) cheap on there, or can you get stuff from Asda etc (cheaper but should do you). Also re food etc, go to cheaper shops or shop online (reduced buying of extra bits n bobs lol) if you can. Also check out the old style and debt free wanabee boards, for ways to cut budget even more.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Yes we have and hav cleared a couple of the smaller debts. The problem is i m unable to work as i broke my ankle at work and had to have an op o it. Not sure when i will be able to go back to work. I have 2 part tme jobs so do notget Sick pay. I applied for ESA but the tax year it was based o i only worked 1 day aweek so ihadnt paid enough NI. So we r not get any money. So we are about £700 a month down. Already not been paid for 2 months
I do look on freecycle not many school bits on there0 -
Duhh, replied on your other post, sorry! Clearly too late in the day for me to be let loose with the keyboard! Here it is again anyway:
I apologise if this sounds harsh, it isn't meant to be, but I had a little look at your SOA from last January, and your income was (still is!) pretty good. It was £3085 per month then and even if you are £700 per month down now, £2385 is still a really good income for a family of five with a pretty sensible sized mortgage.
Even if you could get a crisis loan, it will be for a relatively tiny amount in comparison to the shortfall in your outgoings. I don;t think benefit advice is what you really need, I think it's specialist advice on how to deal with your debts.0 -

You could get help with your rent if you check with your LA.
You will not get a crisis loan for food shopping and school uniforms if you have a income of £13000.alwaysonthego wrote: »You cannot use a crisis loan for school uniforms.
As the op is not at immediate risk from harm it is unlikely she will get one!!!
but you said she couldnt get one for food shopping & school uniforms on an income of £13000. that is wrong. She could get it for foodYou can't beat an egg.........................NO WAIT!0 -
and you have changed your mind from "not" getting one to "unlikely"You can't beat an egg.........................NO WAIT!0

£1,035 per month benefits plus the OP's husband/partner's wage and the OP still can't afford food for her children or school clothes, priorities need to be sorted out me thinks. Year after year you know your child will need new clothes for the new term why do people wait until the last minute to think about saving/buying them.

No, I have not changed my mind, she will not get a crisis loan on the income that she get which is £13000, plus WTC,CTC and CB.0 -

but that is wrong. there is no law that states £13000 is too much. If a decision maker is satisfied the Op has no money and no means to prevent a serious risk to her health & safety then she may get one whether the earnings are £5k , £13k or £15kYou can't beat an egg.........................NO WAIT!0 -

Actually you will find that the government believes that a couple can live on the income support level of £100.95 per week.
The op earns in excess of this.
If the op is desperate she could get a food package from her CAB.0
