    Wow

Thanks for all your views, I am still not sure??..
Seems like the Fiesta is the popular choice, my Mums trying to steer me away from Ford though, saying they have lots of probs and customer service is pants. but Im not sure.
    Might check out the Mazda,

Any other opinions would be great, just I havent a clue about cars.

I could do with one that does a high mpg due to distance I will be driving every day (100 miles)

And also like the idea of the USB port thing majig, can you have this fitted if it does not come with the car? Want to use my Ipod in any new car I get :)

most fords come with an aux plug that you can connect your ipod up to, but im sure they do an actual ipod connection that you can control your ipod via the car stereo.

i wouldnt be too worried about the manufacturers customer service (i doubt fords is the worst) i would be more concerned about being 100% happy about the dealer you buy it from.
i bought a focus from my local ford dealer while trading under the reg vardy name, any problems i had with my focus (only had 2 warranty issues in 3 years) were all fixed quickly and conviniently.
4 years later my dad buys a focus from the same ford garage who are now evans halshaw, the service he received was a total disgrace during the sale.

so be happy with the folk you are buying from, ask around folk near you and see what they think of the dealerships they use.

the folk across the road from me always buy thier cars from the same garage, it doesnt matter to them who the manufacturer is as long as it comes from this garage, the garage have been renault, vauxhall and now fiat, the folk across the street have owned corsas, clios and now puntos.

I'd vote for the Fiesta or the Polo - as they are easier and cheaper to maintain. Mazda (I know they are nice - so don't beat me up guys) charge alot more for their parts - not service parts before you jump on me! Earlier Mazda's were great, later ones......... hmmm

They may well be advertising dependant but theyre not far off the mark usually. Best compact exec 320d, best hot hatch Golf GTI, previous best supermini new fiesta... i could go on.

That actually means very little, it is just a biased opinion of a few so called motoring journalists, it doesn't make any of their choices any better than anyone elses.

The choice of vehicle is subjective.

Personally I wouldn't touch any of the cars in that list.

So its just coincidence that the cars they pick are best in class then?

Odd how the Mazda2 world car of the year 2008 has fallen out of favour so fast.
