I have a new Fiesta Zetec-S TDCI and its great, nice and nippy around town and fast enough on the motorway, lots of room upfront (feels as big as my old focus) and doesn't feel like a tiny car to drive.

I have recently been getting over 55mpg and my average since owning it (since Dec 1st) is 50mpg.

yes, the fiesta zetec S is a very nice car, wouldn't mind one myself when finances allow
  • I had a Fiesta 04 1.25l for just over two years before getting a 207 Sport 56 1.4l. I preferred the 207, but the Fiesta was cheaper to run. The 207 felt much bigger. Never had any problems with either of them, except a minor electrical problem a few weeks into the 207 that was fixed free of charge.

I'd just begrudge paying the cost of the new Fiestas - my old one was £6495 brand new and they're so much more now they're the new shape.

Do you mean new or 'new to you'?

I am taking delivery of a new Mazda2 next week and would at least suggest that you check it out against the cars you've mentioned.

Came tenth (out of ten) in this months small car review in What Car.

Interestingly, the new VW Polo came out first above the fiesta in What Car? this month.

I've heard so so things about the new Corsa. And I know it's not the same but my other halfs 206 is horrid, the 207 doesn't look much better.

On the other hand I have a new style Fiesta Titanium diesel, and I really can't fault it! Drives really well, handles really well, it's comfortable as I do a lot of miles and the best part is the USB connection which allows me to load up a memory stick full of MP3 tracks for the car, which I didn't think I could manage to fill until I discovered audio books!

I would take with a pinch of salt anything that What Car or any other biased journalist concludes.

Remember they are advertising dependant.. ;)

Strangely we were happy with our 206- ok a little work needed over the years but had over 80K on clock before recently chopped it in for a (not new) 207, again happy ( although son would have liked the ipod or usb input )

    Hmmmmmmm

I am in the process of getting a new car and am torn between the above three? Does anyone have any views on which one is best? Anyone own one?

I am looking for a car to do high mileage in :)
    Thanks
Fiesta gets my vote out of those three, looks great in photo's and in the flesh.
It's years since I had a Fiesta (1.25 ghia) drove great and very nippy. I would consider one myself if I was in the market for a new car.

They may well be advertising dependant but theyre not far off the mark usually. Best compact exec 320d, best hot hatch Golf GTI, previous best supermini new fiesta... i could go on.

I dont see anyone rating the Mazda 2 as anything other than a reasonably competent vehicle - just that there are other better cars
