Have rung someone on a recommendation but will ring round a few more tomorrow. Insurance Company said they would only pay out if it was a storm and according to their weather forecast the amount of rain was "negligible" I saw the huge amount of rain that fell in 20 mins but they wouldn't listen so will have to be funded by myself!
Have worked out the cost of xmas, not quite as horrendous as I thought but still too scared to post it here  It has been paid for and absolutely everything bought so have December to try and get back on the straight and narrow for January.
Looked at all the BT fees on the CC's today and they mount up to a fair bit but that is the penalty for 0% I guess, will just have to bear the cost.....

Hi IMD i know waht you mean about christmas!! I have finished now except for a few foodie bits and bobs that take my fancy nearer the time!x
I have put some of the cost on cc but my spending habits have changed so dramatically that i hardly spend anything week to week normally except essentials! So should come jan be hitting the balance hard!!0 -
Am hoping that by sorting it all out now, when we get paid next week we can put the money we put aside for savings into the joint account and it will make it look better straight away. Mentally feel better now it is sorted. Whilst the amount I've spent is still a bit  it's nowhere near as bad as last year. If I start my £2 mission for xmas in January I might be able to fund Xmas from just £2's next year
. Bizarrely already feel better about next year and think that I can start afresh in the New Year, and really make 2010 the year to change it all. If I could try to pay off £20k next year it would be amazing.
Just put Xmas cake in oven but realised that as it will take 4 hours I will have to stay up until midnight at least :doh:1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j

Hi IMD :hello:
Loving the positive thinking!
I think it's worth it for you to save the £2 coins. It's not an amount you miss and then to have £250 when you really need it, makes it a great idea. I think I'll join you and start saving them again in the New Year.
I'm sure the cake is smelling yummy right now....Mmmmmm!
Well done on getting all the shopping done :T0 -

Sorry to hear about the roof - but bonus about the £2 coins.
Not sure where personally stand on that - think it's prob just a fun game isn't it, as in "Ooh, a £2 coin, I'll add it to my stash" - rather than a deliberate thing and therefore a way of making your weekly/monthly totals worse than would otherwise be? And us new-ish MSEers do need psychological tricks like that to keep us on our toes.......
Well done on the cake - still not made my puds, the barrier here is outlay for plastic pudding basins, can't find them on high st and whilst on eBay, are fairly costly and just can't bring myself to do it!! Need to find an MSE solution!
