Customers who have brought a phone on O2 network. I need help plz

Do you know if a phone that comes with O2 network, will it always a locked or unlocked handset? I was wondering if you could share your experiences along with the handset you used. Thanks I have a Nokia 2600 with I got from CPW on O2, but I dont know if its unlocked. I only have just 1 sim (my o2 sim) so I cant even try…
