I've only just gotten home from seeing Mr Julian Stevens. He was lovely, and the op was a breeze. His assistant, Janet Bartlett said that she had trouble reading train timetable boards after her op, but I was ok with it. In fact, I even managed to read and send a text, although it was squinting through the soft focus after effect. It's now just over two hours after the op, and I think the soft focus is supposed to go after about three hours.

In the middle of the trip home, I wanted to go to sleep, but I think it's because the anaesthetic drops were wearing off, and it's a 1.5 hour journey, and I was supposed to put the drops in every hour. Now that I've put in the anaesthetic drops, I'm annoyingly wide awake again, as I'm not supposed to do strenuous work, and so can't garden today, as it would risk dusty/soil stuff getting in the eyes. So am peering at the computer looking for someone to talk to. :D
  • Well done Cattkitt! Sounds like it went really well. Take it easy for the rest of today and make the most of not having to wear your glasses!!

    congrats cattkitt!

Been away for a few weeks hence not been on here! - sounds like everything went smoothy - how does it feel waking up in the morning and being able to see? pretty amazing hey!

Give yourself a day or 2 and you will be back to normal again - driving working etc.

Also phague - whether lenses can go in your sun glasses depends on how wrap around they are and how high your prescription is. If they are really curved sun glasses you cant generally put prescripion lenses in as the vision will go weird. You could prob pick up a really cheap pair anyway for about £25 if its just for a short period of time - they wont be trendy though!

    cheers!

    TEEOFF -

how did you go with Accuvision? Did they treat you better than optical express - those prices you see advertised are hardly ever actually true. In order to qualify for the really cheap price your eyes can only have a very small prescription which is much less than most people who want laser eye surgery.

Let me know your experiences and any questions you have - have been away for a few weeks so not been on the forum

    Cheers!

Thanks for your reply. I was after somewhere who would put normal lenses into my prescription sunglasses frame tho. I like the frames I have, but just want them to be non-prescription sunglasses, instead of prescription ones. Boots want £100 and Specsavers want to see my prescription, although I would be having laser eye surgery and they would be non-prescription lenses!

I might look into (!) one of the online lens/glasses companies. It is a reglaze that I am after.

Got my eyes done this Friday at Sheffield at the Vision center.!
Operated by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

    http://www.sheffieldvisioncentre.co.uk/

For a start they offer comprehensive consultations . unlike the 5 to 10 minutes
that some high street practices seem offer.

Anyways the procedure was very simple , first a flap is created via laser (Lasik )
which is done in no time ! then the treatment laser treatment itself is only 15 seconds !

when i got home , eyes felt somewhat gritty , but after a good nights sleep felt a lot more comfortable i went back for a checkup
on saturday morning ( all is great ) next appointment is on this
friday ( aftercare is the best ) have a mulitude of solutions
i have to drop in 4 times a day

its handy for me as i live nearby , but would suggest checking what NHS hospitals offer the same treatments in your areas

but been out in the sunshine today and its a great feeling seeing the world with my own eyes for the first time since i was about 10 yrs old !

    Thank you, MissTipsy and Simon,

At the moment, my vision is still settling. When my eyes feel uncomfortable or my vision goes, I do a top up of my eye drops. I have to remember that it's only a week since the op!

It sometimes isn't comfortable for reading, and I think I'll postpone sewing for a while. It's lovely being able to go shopping without peering at all the shelves. I'm finding that people less condescending without my glasses, I think. I also have to remember to stop thinking "I'll just grab my glasses" when I go to do something that involves looking around! Lol.

I think that it is a bit "brighter" at night now. It must be my night vision improving, and things not fading away slightly at night as a result.

    Hi Phague

I get you now - you just to put plain non prescription lenses in a frame you like?

Specsavers would probably be the cheapest - its difficult for them to just put lenes in without seeing your presciption as they are legally obliged to see it.

You could use the online companies but they will prob ask for a prescription as well - plus you got the hassle of sending the frames off etc . .

    Hope this helps

    Hi Cattkitt

Like you said you have to remember you only had surgery 1 week ago! Its like whe anything is healing it takes time and your vision should continue to stabilise and improve.

Sounds like things are going well

I am thinking of going to Optimax in Finchley to have Intralase Lasik wavefront. Can someone recommend a surgeon they used that was good please?
