Maiden name dilemma

Comments

  • I'm changing my name by deed poll immediately after the ceremony, I have ordered the documents in advance. I'm having my maiden name as a middle name as I didn't want to give up my name completely, and our family name is going to cease to exist soon!
One day I will be out of my student debt, one day...

I just kept mine. Haven't changed it for any purpose and am not known as Mrs.

It's our 5th wedding anniversary today and it appears that some relatives still struggle with the concept

Why not just keep it - no need for a deed poll!

I wanted it to be legally recognised as a middle name.

I want to keep my surname, but my boyfriends name is a body part and i really hate it. Sadly we cant barrel it because that spells a word, which ever way round we put our names! Then i know for a fact his family would hate it if he took my surname, and i would keep myself as i am but then when we have children i would hate us to have different surnames. Its a tricky one! I think i might have to give in and take his :/

  • I did the same as you are planning. I didn't get it changed by deed poll, just got it changed at work/bank/drivers license/doctorsetc. I've not done my pasport yet, so maybe I will have to sort something out before I do that, you've made me paranoid now!

  • I'm going to latin-ise my name by sticking H2B's name on the end of mine after 'de'. (as in Raspabarbas Maiden de Married!)

Not sure how that will work with the UK name change conventions tho. Deed poll?

  • hi,
i got married last year and have not changed my name ! my busniness is in my maiden name and would take alot of time and money to change everything over.
everybody still calls me mrs k****** but all my bank bills ect are atill in miss L*****
i do want my passport changed over
my passport is under miss and has 3 years left on it, i rang the passport agency about getting it changed into my married name as im going to disney next year, but they said i will have to pay £74 to get it changed and the new one will still run out in 3 years time when i will have to pay another £74 to get a new 10 year one.....
