Menieres disease & tinnitus

I am in early my 30's. I started with tinnitus about 9 years ago, about 2-3 years after the tinnutis began I suffered a severe vertigo attack and for the following few weeks continued to have a few more, inbetween each attack I was unbalanced but not spinning and being sick, only my left ear has been effected. my doctor sent me to a specialist who confirmed after numerous tests i had menieres. my hearing has deteriated over the years i am on stugeron and buccastem
to help with the menieres. i have had a few bad vertigo attacks over the last 6 years constant tinnitus and hearing loss. A few months ago I suffered from a panik attack not having a clue about them i thought i was having a heart attack paramedics were called and sorted me. strangely enough as the panic attack wore off i realised i was entering in to another menieres cluster although no vertigo, seems to now be anxiety, memory loss headaches and confusion and inbalance further loss of hearing and even nosier tinnitus with weird new noises as well as the constant buzzing, does any one else suffer these conditions, would be nice to here from you. I have been off work since last attack on ssp, would i be entitled to anything. i work full time, married husband works full time no benefits except cb ctc we have 2 children, youngest has a dla claim in progress for epilepsy.......

Have you found the Meniere's Society? I don't have it, but have had the dizziness, so offer my sympathy!Signature removed for peace of mind0

Worryingly I read that before it was edited and it made reasonable sense to me... my poor brain
I don't have menieres, but I have ME which causes dizziness a lot, crappy balance, nausea amongst many other things.
Thought I'd ask if you'd ever tried sea-bands/a cheaper alternative, that use the pressure points in your wrists that can help with nausea up to a point anyway.
I'm assuming you know the DLA criteria if you're applying for your son, but I'll run through anyway, low rate mobility- needing supervision outside in unfamiliar places- for safety/anxiety.
I'd imagine you'd be eligible for that, for a few reasons you mention. Low rate care- if you can't cook a meal- SAFELY- from scratch, meat, vegetables etc. Includes bending up and down to get to oven, handling hot pans etc. Even if you do have to do this, are you safe? Do you do it in an adapted way that wouldn't be considered normal? If you're going to apply, please do get someone to help- CAB, A4U (used to be DIAL)
Good luck0 -
I was diagnosed with Menieres a couple of years ago but have never thought of claiming DLA and just get on with it.0

Well, like many illnesses, for some people it's possible to get on with it, and for others it's too disabling to do so.Signature removed for peace of mind0

i too have menieres disease had it since i was a child i am deaf in one year, having constant ringing in my ears, feel dizzy and sick all the time, i take stemitol or travel sickness tablets, i also have panic attacks followed by hot flushes, had all tests done and basically told they can do nothing about it, so i just have to get on with it, when i have one of my bad attacks i am laid up for about 4 days unable to move, constantly sick, not able to lift my head, i had a terrible bad attack 2 years ago whereby i was taken to hospital in amubulance i lost all my vision and could not stand, after being on a drip for 6 hours and having stemitol injections i was ok after about a week, i have to put up with it all the time and it does get you down but what other option is there ?2010 - Goals
