I do competitions .I give all my prizes to raise money for animals. With the money raised I like to buy pet foods/beds/toys/bedding etc first then give them the rest of the money .All animals charities count to me but tend to give to the ones near me.I would love to help them all as every little counts.0

It's www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk - the Zooplus link is at the bottom of every page, if you click on it it takes you to the normal Zooplus site and you order as normal, Zooplus then donate 5% of the order total.
They also have their own shop which sells great cat toys, 100% of profits go to cat rescue so I get to treat my cats and help needy cats at the same time

We have a sponsored cat from Tower Hill Stables, a sponsored fox from the Fox Project, a donkey from the donkey sanctuary on the Isle of Wight and a dog from the Dogs Trust. The local cat sanctuary also get a donation at Christmas as we got a rescue cat from there. Generally the smaller charities spend very little of their money on wages and administration fees so the donations are very cost effective.
I think it is also important to fund charities that tackle the root causes of animal cruelty. Although the RSPCA get some things right I don't agree with some of their policies so won't give to them, they seem to water down their views so as not to offend anyone and get the maximum donations possible. Instead I give to charities that are prepared to speak their mind such as Animal Aid, Viva, BUAV, Dr Hadwen Trust, League Against Cruel Sports, and the Vegan Society who between them tackle animal cruelty at a range of different levels.
Animals don't have a voice so can't lobby the government for funding which is why the work of animal charities is so important.0 -
Paul i feel exactly the same. The ones that try to stop cruelty i feel do the most good. That is why i support the WSPA,and also the NAVS(similar to the BUAV)0

Nope. Cash means they have to pay it into a bank (for a fee), keep it there, then decide how to spend it, send someone out to get the things and generally makes a huge dent in time.
I take the PDSA a big box of soap powder, a few tins of tuna/pilchards and anything else I can think of, whenever I get the chance. I can get them more for a tenner than they can, as they have to spend on transaction fees, bank charges, salaries and the like.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
I like to help different ones out every couple of months if I'm able to. Also I help the local pound out with food, and my cat's so picky that the pouches he won't eat go to the local cat charity.
Thanks for the heads up on Cinnamon Trust, never heard of them before now.TWBM (hopefully!) 2010 Any break away.

I try and give where I can to the Mayhew and Blue Cross.
My mum does volunteer work for CPL and the Born Free Foundation.
I tend to take donations of cat food, dog food and various other things to my local RSPCA rescue centre and volunteer to walk the dogs from time to time.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is another great charity. They take homeless dogs and train them to support deaf people which is a complete win-win situation

Hi everyone ...
Please can I bang a gong for this place?
http://www.oldies.org.uk/
Very little about them in the public eye but they do a great job! They take in the oaps that nobody wants and try to rehome them. They have volunteers who transport the dogs, cats (and other animals!) to and from the vets or their new homes etc, they do homechecks and fostering and they don't put any dog down ...
They have sponsored events, have online merchandise, recycle mobile phones, stamps and ink cartridges to raise money to keep running and have volunteers who print out and distribute posters of the dogs they have that are needing homes, so they are very "up and at em" to help their oaps!!
They're a registered charity who rely on funding ... either from the fundraising they do or from donations ... apart from The Blue Cross (who never put an animal to sleep and will let it live out its natural life with them if they cannot rehome it), this is the only other place I would donate to!!
By the way, I have nothing whatsoever to do with them .. I just think they are a fab charity!! *S*0
