I reckon you're right MissShoes, if all those things didn't work, it's going to stay stained. I had a quick look around for resurfacing products and there's a kit by a firm called Tubby (I'm sure there are many others out there too), I think around £65.

you are a star. a ten star plus money saving expert star.
The mixture of cream of tartar and peroxide worked my bath is now shiny and white can't thank you enough.
I thought I was looking at the cost of re-surfacing (£320+VAT) or a new suite
Thanks to everyone else for suggestions.

Your bath sounds like mine, I accidently used toilet duck and it streaked the bath and made rough marks, not sure if it needs re enameling!! How did you make up your mixture, Id like to try it and see if it works on my bath?
  • Sorry to bring an old thread back up but hoping someone can help me.

I have what appears to e an acrylic bath. Try as I might it has what I can only describe as a tide mark where the water would sit when you fill the bath that's rough and has streaks like runs through it and it looks awful.

Which of these products can I use on an this type of bath. The edges and tops are all ok, so I am thinking it may be a limescale build up. Wishful thinking maybe.

    Any tips please
Can I ever learn this budgeting lark? So far it's not looking promising

  • Ok one word, Vim!
  • I want to get rid of the ring of dirt in my bath but my cleaner does not shift it. It is cast iron viterous enammel bath. What can I use to safely clean it please.
  • Mix a bit of bicarb of soda with water to form a paste. Scrub it on, and then spray with a bit of vinegar to get a foam and that generally cleans off just about any kind of soap scum/bathroom dirt you can find.

I have the same type of bath, I use washing powder.
    Bulletproof
  • I use 50/50 washing up liquid and white vinegar with a little bicarb on a sponge for really bad stains. Put a good coating on the bath, leave for 10-20 minutes and rinse off
