CPW termination letter

Called CPW as my 12 month contract is up - I need to write to them to give 30 days notice fair enough but they will not tell me where to write unless I speak to their retention team !

My third e mail to what they laughingly call customer services eventually got the address in Southampton but with a claim they will not process the termination unless I get a disconnection number from retentions !

I am tempted to send a termination letter to their company registered office and tell them to see me in court!

Does anyone have a list of which companies are part of CPW so I can avoid these clowns in the future?

  • I can appreciate how annoyed you are, But would it not have been simpler to actually speak to the retentions department and got the required number, They will of course try to retain you, But where all adults and can refuse any offer that is not favourable.

it seems like the time you spent writing 3 emails and a thread on here, could have been spent talking to an agent in retentions and getting the required information, and solving your issue.

Just send the letter (recorded delivery). No need for their number.

You've obviously never tried talking with the "retentions" department. Their SOLE purpose in life is to fob you off and prevent you leaving at any cost. They are a complete bunch of liars and will waste a LOT more the OP's time than starting a thread on here - and with less result.
  • Don`t particulary want to get into a slanging match with you over CPW, I`m well aware of your dislike of the company from your remarks on every CPW thread that is on here,

i`m not going to start quoting you as that will detract from the OP`s issue, But i have spoken to retentions agents as i`m sure every person with a mobile has at some point and i`m also able to decline something i don`t want or take the offer and make sure it get what has been promised.

I was merely commenting that it seemed rather odd that taking time to complain in several different methods about a process that you have not attemted to complete is something i found odd.

Hope the OP gets it sorted with out any problems, good look.

I'm so glad you're strong enough to decline any offer. However, the OP simply wants to cancel - and calling the disconnections department definitely is NOT the way to achieve that. Since they have discovered the tactics employed (i.e. blatant lies about needing a disconnection code) their post is useful for all those (unlike you) who do not want to waste their time playing cpw's game.

Quentin's advice is perfectly sound as usual.

Yes Mr R I could have just wasted 5 minutes with retentions - I can assure you I am perfectly capable of refusing offers - and recognising when soemone is feeding me duff info to get me to sign up that is why I wanted to leave

However as (I think you agree) that shouldn't be necessary then you and I have two choices - appease them and be a doormat or make a fuss - probably with little chance of changing things but at least I tried. If a few thundred more take the same kine then we may get it changed

anyway the point of this thread is that I knew that CPW has several incarnations and I wanted to make sure I avoided (and could recommend all others to avoid) all of them

It's simple, write to the address on the bill, keep a copy and send it via a signed for service so you can prove they recieved it. For good measure inform them you require confirmation of this in writing.

You don't need to call them, talk to retentions or anything else. Just state when you want to contract to end, and assuming you've met the minimum terms it will be cancelled.

Retentions will call you a few times and try and sell you another contract but the cancellation will happen. I've done it that way a few times with CPW companies with no problems. Phone cancellations never go so smoothly, written ones tend to go through better.
  • i agree, But let me just clarify that i wasn`t having a dig at you on my reply and i didn`t intend to insinuate that you where incapable of declining offers,

if it came across that way to yourself i apologise,

i`m sure mobilejunkie will be along shortly to add to this thread, As from reading his previous post and the veiled sarcasm, he seems to have either taken a direct dislike to me or maybe it`s just anyone who doesn`t share his views on CPW, Not sure how i became the bad guy in the thread, just merely wanted to share a different opinion.

My apoligies again OP, No offence was intended.
