Npower waste of time

Beware of npower and meter changes - another area of incompetence where they excel. We had a meter change in 2008 - the "new" meter didn't actually start at zero, but the meter fitter left our copy of the paperwork noting the start values (around 23,000 units).
Npower used the final readings of the old meter but refused to accept the start values for the new meter which appeared on the same piece of paper.
It took a year and a week for them to accept their error and correct the billing; only resolved after that period of time because I told them I was going to Ofgem when the new meter had been in for a year and they still hadn't sorted the billing out.
To their credit, they moved me to a better tarrif - but until you reach the complaints department, you're just dealing with incompetence at every step of the way.
If it's of any help, we have an economy 7 meter, but are on a standard tarrif because it's cheaper for our usage profile. You don't have to have a matching tarrif and meter.0 -

Welcome to the forum.
That may be the case with npower, but not all companies will accept that arrangement.
Presumably with those companies their computer system cannot cope with adding the daytime and night readings and treating them as one total.
Some make you pay for a credit meter to be fitted.0
