And Spudly...if you could perhaps take pictures and email or describe in more detail the problem with the floor I could get DS to tell you what to do....he may even come up and do it for you....he will do anything for a pint!Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Sally...I can only echo what BOS said. I know you were only letting off steam on here (and we are only human after all) but after getting my sorry arriss booted out of the door of a good job when I was on maternity leave I would rather live in a shed and have my kids healthy and my stress levels on an even keel.
My sister lives in a lovely house with no debt but can't have kids....you are a lovely lovely person who doesn't need a lovely house to define who you are....you glow from the inside out. Houses don't make people.....
Can you tell I have had a glass of wine....
I had some 'friends' who dumped me when I moved to where I am cos they thought we had 'gone up in the world'. They don't realise the neighbours can't stand us......:rotfl:Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Bunny......(and Spud) although Bunny is nearer and Spud....your daughter is quite sensible enough to babysit DS....I am MORE than happy to have your two over for one or two nights if you want a night or two away.....I promise I won't drink or fall asleep before them....:rotfl:
(I might get DD round for backup!)
We're fine hun, honestly. To be honest, we never used to go out when we did have family to babysit. We'd lie and say we'd been to the pub, when really we'd just stayed in together with a take away and enjoyed being child free for a few hours

Aww, thanks hun, but your DH is stressed enough. I might just rearrange the bedroom, so that the bed's over the hole :rotfl:Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

Re read Spud I said DS not DH!!! I would not trust DH with anything! Last time he tried any kind of DIY he wired the ceiling light so that it was constantly live.....:rotfl:Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Lenza-I live in Shropshire...and who am I kidding-a few nights away with DH would only make me more sad as I would have certain expections and if past experiences are anything to go by, they would not be met....
Sammy-I love you xxxxxEmpty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
Evening all
Thanks for the anniversary wishes
Had my parents round for the day which was lovely - sat on the beach in the blazing sun eating cockles and whelks. Was easily 28 degrees out there today...amazing how different it can be just across the country.
Spud - just take the measurements of the floor board you need to a local wood merchant and they'll cut you a suitable board to size - should cost around a fiver...they'll advise you about what nails to use too. (you could probably pick them up somewhere like B&Q too but would probably need to buy a pack rather than one board)
Sally - I understand the whole house jealousy thing - I sold my lovely house when I got divorced and have had a series of rental dumps, this new one we're in is lovely though and we're planning to stay long term. I like the security of knowing I don't have to repair the boiler or sort the roof. My DD's only ever remember the good bits from their childhood, they don't recall the rain flooding into the kitchen at our old house, they don't remember the mould in the bathroom....Kids are fab like that.
I've just been handed a glass of rosehip wine...guess that's our anniversary celebration
