  • Lenza-I live in Shropshire...and who am I kidding-a few nights away with DH would only make me more sad as I would have certain expections and if past experiences are anything to go by, they would not be met....

    Sammy-I love you xxxxx

Bun - I meant where're their heads/hearts at - to be so near to grandchildren and not be that interested?! Saying that my Daddyo has seen my eldest once when he was born and never seen the youngest...
Their (huge) loss in the end. Sad about OH too.

But great that you love Sammy :D

    Evening all

Thanks for the anniversary wishes :D Had my parents round for the day which was lovely - sat on the beach in the blazing sun eating cockles and whelks. Was easily 28 degrees out there today...amazing how different it can be just across the country.

Spud - just take the measurements of the floor board you need to a local wood merchant and they'll cut you a suitable board to size - should cost around a fiver...they'll advise you about what nails to use too. (you could probably pick them up somewhere like B&Q too but would probably need to buy a pack rather than one board)

Sally - I understand the whole house jealousy thing - I sold my lovely house when I got divorced and have had a series of rental dumps, this new one we're in is lovely though and we're planning to stay long term. I like the security of knowing I don't have to repair the boiler or sort the roof. My DD's only ever remember the good bits from their childhood, they don't recall the rain flooding into the kitchen at our old house, they don't remember the mould in the bathroom....Kids are fab like that.

I've just been handed a glass of rosehip wine...guess that's our anniversary celebration :D

    Happy anniversary Pooky

This is a fairly modern house hun, so we dont have the traditional floorboards. They're like big chipboard sheets. I would need to find out thickness, size etc which would involve emptying the bedroom and taking the carpet up I think

It should be a standard sized board then if it's not been cut to fit against a wall - the wood shop would know what thickness to supply and it should be less than £10. But yes you will need to get the carpet up to fit it but it's a quick and easy job.

my flamates have gone on holiday and left a load of manky food in the fridge that I've had to clear out - they've also left a bottle of wine that is calling me...

What do you think? (no doubt I'll replace it later in the week anyway, cause I'm nice like that :p)
